    Afternoon everyone,

Hope everyone's Ok - it sounds like there has been some nice relaxation planned!

Hope your cold soon starts to improve Notjustlaura. Have you seen the Karvol plug in things? They're really good for keeping the nose clear overnight (but don't plug it in right next to the bed or your eyes will water!)

Everybody's roast dinners soud lovely! Hubby is cooking roast chicken for us tonight - yummy! We have frozen roast potatoes :o Have never used them before (normally make our own) but I thought they might be a useful standby for when bubs arrives and we don't have much time / energy at first.

Today I am having a relaxing day, under orders from OH :) so haven't done much, and have had lots of sleep. It was my best friend's wedding yesterday and I was her bridesmaid (at 37 weeks pregnant:rotfl:). The day went really well and she looked absolutely beautiful. I don't really know her husband very well (they live a couple of hours from us, he is very shy, and she tends to visit me as we have much more room), but she is obviously so happy with him and they suit each other really well. I am sure it is the start of a long and happy marriage.:T

We left the wedding at about 7pm as I was very tired and my ankles looked like elephant's legs, they were so swollen:eek:. My friend knew that I might have to leave before the end, and was very understanding.:)

Today I have made Nigella Lawson's spiced nuts from her xmas cookbook - they are so yummy and very easy to do. I tell myself that the fibre and vitamins and minerals are good for me and bubs, and ignore the fat content!

Hope its OK to post the link.....

Well, enough of my waffle for today. Hope everyone's OK.

Afternoon all! It has been dry here and I persuaded DH to empty the shed out onto the lawn. We were absolutely ruthless and slung 90% of the stuff. He loaded it into my car and me an DS took it to the recycling centre with me almost crashing en-route when a large spider from the junk decided he wanted to ride up front!! After lunch I was in the mood to tackle the garage too but DH has claimed he is to tired now.....
Hope you're all having productive days too!

    Afternoon all

    Welcome newbies!

Lunch at parents went very well. No comments off mother, although she must be feeling guilty about what she said cos I came away with lots of freebies :D I got 5lbs of spuds from their garden, big bag of runner beans, 2 portions of lentil pie that we had for lunch and 2 hard boiled eggs!! It was quite nice actually. I've booked my Dad in to do some jobs in my flat next month. I've got permission to put up stuff on walls and have 2 shelving units and big mirror in parents attic which will now come back to mine.

Got 2 loads of washing done too. One at my nan's (she lives 5mins round corner from parents) and one at parents. The load at my nan's was almost dry when I picked it up. The rest is on the airer on my balcony now, and hopefully will dry inside overnight.

I'm going to curl up with a book now and maybe go for a walk later tonight when the tide is in.

  • meanmarie - WRT clingy cat in the cattery. Have you tried her with Zylkene? It's a diet supplement which has a similar effect to valium but without all the nasty side-effects/addiction. My William has a capsule every day for stress-related illness (eczema and asthma) and does very well on it but it's also suitable for short-term use. You can buy it (expensively) from your vet or (in bulk) from various places online.

falady - Thanks for the Karvol suggestion. I use an Otrivine nasal spray and it works a treat!

Today's been a quiet day. Knitting, TV (I only watch when I knit), a trip to Mr A for cold meds and a wee pet-sitting job this afternoon which will help out this month's grocery budget. Am aiming for Church tonight but will see how I'm feeling after dinner as I was exhausted when I got in from feeding Tigger and it's taken me a while to get a second wind.

May I apologise, I had been so worried about DS this morning that I forgot to welcome Sandybeth.
I had also meant to say to Flutterby that I hope your visit to your mum's is ok - fabby service from your letting agent.
NPM sounds like your sleep has done you good. Not long until school starts again, we are into our second week here!
Glad your wedding went ok falady.

Still raining here but have caught up on lots of housework and paperwork including the minutes to a meeting I was at 2 weeks ago!!

DD came home from work as the major accident earlier means that the road is still closed so no-one can get to the village where she works. No visitors means no business but her boss brought her and her friend home which was kind. Unfortunately the accident was fatal, a motorcycle rider was killed trying to overtake a coach. Even though it causes an hour or so's inconvenience to us it is a lifetime of misery for their family. My thoughts are with them.

    Take care XX

Oh that's really sad to hear Camelot. I had a friend who died on his motorcycle up your way several years ago. It happens far too often, sadly.

    Hi again

Reached Rouen OK, Experienced a very heavy thunderstorm just around Poitiers (hope you missed it Moiliere), we slowed down but some idiots were sailing by at the speed limit (including a motorbike) and the French roads do not drain as well as the ones in the UK.

Just checked the forecast for tomorrow and it looks like a rainy journey all the way home from here, suppose it is warning us nicely the BH weekend when we are due to go 'van with be typical UK BH weather. Looks like the winds will be quite high for the ferry crossing too. Seems we will have to find out what coats are:o:eek:

Nice to see you back Falady glad the wedding went OK, but rest now and get those ankles down.

    Take care all - DG

Hotel was £30pp for 2 nights inc breakfast!!! Train return was £20. So £50 for 2 nights in London :D. Just gotta plan what we want to do when we are there now.
