Good morning . I am new here
I discovered this part of the forum last night and it is just the sort of thing I love.
I will jump right in if that's ok. Today I will be salting some more beans and baking some bread. A few weeks ago we invested in a grain mill and a sack of wheat and it is so lovely to mill the wheat for the bread.
Looking forward to getting to know you all

Morning All,
I slept til 10.20am this morning!I was up with OH when he left for wrok at 7am and then went back to sleep, feeling a bit urgh now though, too much sleep! Poor man, having to work on his birthday, the boys have just phoned him and sung to him, which should put a smile on his face.
OS today then is preparing dad's evening. HM quorn and chickpea curry with chapatis and onion bhaji. Chocolate birthday cake and custard has been requested, I also have some treats to make for his wee mini hamper- some tablet, HM peanut butter (need to do a label for that), and a chocolate slab, which the boys will do. They also need to put the finishing touches to his birthday card, they always make him a card, which he really enjoys receiving. I also have a lovely picture frame so I think I'll drag them outside and take some photos and do that for him, too.
In between all that the house needs seeing to, and the decorations putting up for him coming home. (I fell asleep before him last night and missed the opportunity:o)
NPM nice to see you posting, no need to apologise for the long post, its lovely to see you so chatty. Which reminds me, for some reason, I got a reply from Legoland yesterday about my comments on the state of the toilet facilities, offering me a free return ticket as ways of an apology for the disappointment, which I thought was a nice gesture, even though that hadn't been the point of my doing so.
Have a lovely day everyone, welcome to the newbies!

Packing for my move next saturday
There's about 12-13 kilos of plums in the house and noone has a clue what to do with THAT many plums, and there's still loads on the tree!Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
Frrecycle the adelight, I'm sure you'd get rid of them in no time. Or post whereabouts in the country you are on here, someone will happily take them off your hands, I am sure
(not me, not mad keen on them here!)

Morning All (just lost a long post!)
DS2 took DD to work this morning on his way to help friends do their house again but didn't arrive. I had heard lots of emergency vehicles going up the road (busyA82) shortly after they left so phoned friends to ask him to phone when he arrived. By the time I heard from him it was 2 hours later and I was physically sick I was so worried. Apparently he had turned back but got sent another way because of another accident. Anyway he is there now and I can get on with my day (I have to say that worry is great for the cleaning!). Just hope those involved in the accidents are ok.
Pouring down here so lots of cleaning on the cards, hope everyone has a good sunday. Roast chicken for tea followed by hm rice pudding for those who like it. XX0 -
I can see the rain over where you are Camelot, looks like it may pass us by, we still have some sunshine, although its very windy!
Glad your DS is OK, I would have been having kittens in your position, my imagination is overactive at the best of times XIt's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0 -
Hello again, sandybeth - glad you've found your way to this thread. Milling your own wheat is really rather impressive. I've got as far as using the bread machine instead of buying bread but think milling wheat would be beyond me!
Thanks for the well-wishes, marchio. I didn't meet my friend in the end as I'm so tired. I've been knitting all morning (tucked up on the recliner with hot wheat bag and a blankie) and am now thinking about braving Mr A for some more cold meds as I'm about to run out ...
Hope things go OK at your DM's, flutterbyuk25. My mother and I have danced that same dance many-a-time.
Sorry you're not well, bargainbird - I hope I didn't give you my lurgy!
Hope the training course goes OK for you today, Essex-girl.
Welcome back, glitterkitty!

Afternoon all,
Welcome Sandybeth...nice place here.
Sun shining and wind blowing here, think that we are to have rain but wm is on and stuff is going out when done....brought it all down when I got up, put in machine and then forgot to turn machine on....should be out long ago!
NPM...hugs, glad that you had some sleep.
Roast shoulder of lamb with courgettes and new potatoes for dinner....need to find a recipe for courgette pickle I like, as we have far more than we can eat at present.
Getting on with my knitting, need to finish baby jacket to-day, glad to be getting everything done....have spent too many hours on Revelry lately it is addictive, have found lots of hats I plan on doing for knitting groups Christmas fair, but need to get gifts done first.
Went to christening yesterday...godson's second son, was nice to see them, they live in Scotland so visits are seldom. Left most of party in hotel as was very tired for some reason, hope that *l**dy ME cousin thing I had 4 years ago is not coming back.
Must do some more clearing of cupboard under stairs, got rid of some stuff, have decided to put anything which belongs to 'children' in separate bags and let them deal with it, if I dump something it will certainly be needed next week.
Would like to go to Kerry for a few days this week, but have nobody to look after cats, they were so badly behaved for DD4 that I wouldn't ask her again, Mossy (DD3's dog) doesn't like cats so can't send them there....thinking of cattery at present, there is one up the road but feel that Sile might have a heart attack, she is such a clingy cat! If they don't stop killing shrews and bringing them in to me I will be extremely cross, but that's another issue.
Have got very few blackberries yet...going to have a look down near the canal....just walking path, not much used so should be plentiful and easy to get at.
Nothing planned except knitting while watching football on tv this afternoon, will probably have a visit from DS3 at some stage, he usually comes here to watch football so that he and OH can shout at the tv together....do men ever grow up??
Hope that everybody has a nice afternoon, hugs to those in need or want.

Hello & welcome to the newbies.
NPM- glad you had time to post
Meanmarie- sorry you felt so tired-hope you pick up soon.Pets are a worry if you want to go away aren't they.We swore when we got our last dog that we would get him used to kennels, but didnt. Its been 3 years since our last 'proper' holiday. We are going to France in Sept for a few days,DS2 is away at the same time,so there will only be DS1 at home,so I hope he doesn't fret too much(the dog,not DS:rotfl:)
Had a nice weekend so far-yesterday afternoon DH,DS1 and I went to the pub to watch our team win on TV,then later we went up to visit our friends, which turned into a late one:beer:.
DSons have gone off to the Christening of their mates baby, taking the latest quilt I made, and a card I made,so won't see themfor a while.Need to go and get dog food, didnt realise we'd run out completely,so he had chopped up toast, ham & cheese for his lunch.
Tea is a lamb joint I got reduced in Mr.S yesterday, with roasties etc.DH is back from giving the old jalopy a run,so better go.Have good days all.x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Hello all
Sun shinning brightly here and a gentle breeze means that I can get the washing dry! Went to lottie last night to get some blackberries and got a celebration tub full - going up to look for apples this afternoon so that I can makde some blackberry and apple jam (never made jam previously and so any hints and tips appreciated!) Also hoping for some rhubarb - if lucky will make a crumble, but drop a couple of tablets of liquorice in the rhubarb as it's simmering.
Dinner was lamb cobler - I have found a cheap food place near here. They sell things like what the pubs do (lamb shanks in mint gravy, beef in red wine sauce etc, which you'd pay about £8-10 per portion for) 3 portions for £1.50, was lovely. Added in was pots from lottie and some bargain veg from supermarket, and 9p yorkshire pudding mix
Enjoy your day. Inkie0
