Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for 22nd August 2010. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
[*]As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
[*]When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
[*]Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just fine.

Bonjour

Just thought I would set you off before we continue.

OS has been 2 hb eggs for me and weetabix for DH all in the room, together with coffee.

Catch you when we get further north. Have a good day all, (((hugs))) to those in need.

    Donny safe journey

got the DD's free tickets to see 'going the distance' this morning so i will drop them in town and then nip to waitrose to pick up a couple of things

MIL coming for lunch later , having a pork loin joint with veg and yorkies

have a lovely sunday everyone x
  • Thanks to donny-gal for starting today's thread. I hope your travels go well today.

It's cloudy but quite bright in Glasgow at the moment - the kind of sky that could go either way later on.

I've rebooted the DW and dealt with the cats' needs. Will potter about a bit as the day progresses.

I should be meeting a friend for lunch, buying more cold meds, doing a pet-sitting job and then going to Mass today but, as I'm still feeling rough, I'm thinking of cancelling the lunch, getting the meds, feeding the cat and then deciding if I'm well enough for Mass. I have a feeling that going into town would be a bridge too far. But I'll decide after breakfast - I'm not hungry yet.

Hope you all have good, OS days :)

  • Good morning . I am new here :) I discovered this part of the forum last night and it is just the sort of thing I love.
I will jump right in if that's ok. Today I will be salting some more beans and baking some bread. A few weeks ago we invested in a grain mill and a sack of wheat and it is so lovely to mill the wheat for the bread.
Looking forward to getting to know you all

    Morning all,
Thanks for starting the thread DG - I have been searching for it since 6:30 but only just found it now!! Happy safe travelling:)
Sistercas enjoy the peace, your lunch sounds lovely.
Laura hope you feel better soon x x
I have a full load in wm including a towelling robe - and it is pouring with rain.:( The French beans are looking in need of water though so not all bad.
Will just put on bm then need to pick tomatoes to make pasata and DH will make his salsa (his home grown tomatoes, chillis and onions:))
Don't have to cook today 'cept maybe a big breakfast as going to a BBQ later (about 3ish)
Hope y'all have a good day and things turn out well,
    Cheers

    Morning all
There is a bit of blue sky peeping through, but not sure how long it will last.
I don't have enough dirty clothes to start the WM & the DW is only half full so no point putting that on either.
I'm not sure what I'm doing up at this time as we didn't get to bed til gone 4 as we were covering for a couple who run a club & who's DD was having a planned Cesarean & came home yesterday, mother & baby are doing well.
Batch cooking for me today, I have a chicken, piece of gammon & 6 sausages that cost £6.84 & ! will make roast chicken, chicken & veg pie, chicken & ham pie, a weeks worth of sandwiches for hubby, pasta bake, sausage casserole, potted ham & chicken, special fried rice, chicken soup & pea & ham soup.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester.

Blue skies and sunny up here this morning- forecast looking quite good so will get some washing done then a bit more pottering on in the garden and listing on ebay as its free listing today and tomorrow for anyone wanting a de- clutter and tidy up, might even brave the understairs cupboard and see whats lurking under there.

Hope everyone has a great day

    Morning all

There is a strange bright, yellow thing in the sky radiating warmth, any clues as to what it is?! :rotfl:. Whoop no rain today! Which is good news as hopefully my washing will dry. I'm taking one load to my nan's and one to my parents later.

I'm going to my parents for lunch. You may remember that I had a silly falling out with my Mum 2 weeks ago after she said something sort of nasty to me. It will be the first time I have seen her since then. Had brief chat with her yesterday about what time to pop round. She isn't aware that she upset me, and I'm over it now so it should all be ok.

I also need to go to the library to return some books, and get some new ones out. Plus post a few cards. It's my Dad's birthday mid-week, and he said he didn't want anything so I'll grab a few of his fav chocolate bars for him instead.

I really want to go blackberry picking but I'm not sure if I have time. I may rush a shower and get ready and pop out for an hour to see what I can find.

    Have a good day all

Morning all & thanks donnygal for starting us off. :)
Been up ages with baby, but DH & DS (3 yrs) only just got up!
Lovely & sunny so far, WM on in a mo, washing up to do. Later, DH is taking DS for a long walk & to get paper, baby & I off to an informal meeting on new community allotment near me - to get ideas for planting, see if there's space there or join list for allotment of my own. It's 5 minutes down the road, so it's VERY local!
Got to get more brambles picked today, some already starting to go over so need to hurry up the harvesting. Sister's in-laws & friend of mine have Bramleys going spare, so need to get to their houses this week, too.
OS-wise today, just try & catch up with housework & get some maternity clothes, breast pump & other bits on local site to sell.
Hope you all have lovely Sundays, hugs & kisses to poorlies & others in need! :grouphug::kisses3:
