Nothing to see here, move along.
  • In their defence cyclonebri1 is a long term poster and I think they were being ironic.

  • Having driven three different scooters over a peroid of 5 years I would refer to my self as a fountin of knowledge! (maybe)

I am female, got my first scooter at 19 and used to ride it everyday to university then to work. I was never once in an accident, despite living in a city and then a busy town.

i have driven on duel carrige ways, country roads and in all sorts of weather.

I brought one bike from new and two second hand/

The most important thing for staying warm, i would say you need thermals for the winter, my helmet scarf was wonderful, and a good warm pair of gloves.

If you have any questions PM me, as I am likely to forget i posted on this page!
Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.

That part made me chuckle :rotfl:

But, some sensible advice for the OP, not all this doom and gloom 'hardcore rider' twaddle!

Yes, my visor used to ice up on the very worst days, and I mean once or twice a year! lol.. not every winters day..

It's not as easy as a car, but it's more fun! and it's better than walking or getting the cattle wagon (bus)..

Thanks Doug, But I wasn't being ironic, (the poster that interjected told me I didn't know what it meant).

I am merely trying to point out that bikes and scooters carry a risk that most car drivers simply cannot comprehend.

"Sorry Mrs for damaging your front wing" equates to " Ooops, I just took your leg off) in biking/scootering terms.

Coveredinshot or earth would be more suitable,
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Maybe you would like to elaborate on that comment?, I didr offer a differring opinion to yours in a previous post, but why now try to trash anything I now post.

Your opinion is yours and you are entitled to it, right or wrong. If you have facts to post, post 'em. If not...............mooning.gif

Blimey, you're a little ray of sunshine!

Yes riding a scooter/moped/motorbike carries a higher risk of injury than driving a car, but then driving a car carries a higher risk of injury than flying, and I don't imagine you're giving up the car to buy a Cessna, are you?

Some of us enjoy living too much to worry about dying all the time.

10 times actually, followed closely by crossing the road.

I am an ex biker, I think of myself as a surviver. My missus wanted a scooter for a runabout. I bought her a car. Take your own risk assesment.

They are all tested to the same standard, the only difference is weight, vents, wind noise and "features" such as removal cheek pads.

I'm sorry, but that's complete and utter !!!!!!!!. That's the same as saying that because all cars have to pass minimum safety standards, they are all equally safe. I'd rather have a crash in a nice big Volvo with full air-bags, roll cage, crumple-zones and whatever else they pack into them than in a Smart-car, or an Elise..

Better helmets equal better fit, better materials, and are made to MUCH higher quality control. Are you saying that a 500 pound Arai is no safer than a 20 quid Takachi? I wouldn't want to be your head...

You miss the point, I'd sooner not have the crash at all, now that I can effect ;)

Of course, i'd rather not have a crash, but if I DID have one, I'd want to be wrapped in the best quality armour I can get... Not some cheap stuff designed solely to pass the very minimum standards.
