That was scary; now to tackle the remaining mortgage

Hi Poppy, am hoping it will just go away on its own - not keen on going to GP unless I absolutely have to
but will see how I get on this week.
Is it possible that Halif@x have added the interest on and thats why your balance has gone up? They do that to us sometimes just when I've made an OP and we owe more than we did before I OPd  - very dispiriting. I don't think they do anything to the online balances over a weekend, at least ours never changes.
My loins remain ungirded but I have some time off this week so will see whether the urge is there then :rotfl:.
Let us know what happens with yours [online balance not loins]0 -

Please click confirm if you're happy to process as a Bacs payment" Wasn't sure, but decided to go ahead with this & it then came up with "money will reach the recipient's account within the next 4 working days". That's rubbish  it usually shows up OPs the next day (apart from on a weekend) but now I have to wait 4 working days?!
I suffered the same problem on the 24th too (but with paying a Halifax CC via FP).
I asked the same question here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3813931I was a DFW, now I'm a MFW :T0 -
Thanks IWN - looks like it wasn't just you Poppy!0

teapot, I'm the same with going to see the Dr. but I do like to encourage other people to go!! :rotfl:
Good to know it wasn't just me having problems with the H@lifax, I was starting to get paranoid. Thanks, IWN for the link
I think the balance increase was interest added, even though no money had actually gone into the mortgage account, but I'm wondering if my failed attempt to pay had maybe triggered something?? Anyway, I cancelled the pending BACs payment yesterday & tried the faster payment & it appeared to work although no change in the mortgage balance yet, hopefully that will show tomorrow.'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -
Has your Halifax account sorted itself out yet Poppy?0

Definitely feeling better now and got more energy - hooray. Was a lovely morning when I got up, all sun and blue skies but its gone a bit cloudy now and much duller - boo. Will still hang washing out for a while though.
Got a new mob phone delivered today, my contract is coming to an end with old provider and the reception with them has really gone down hill and is non existent in some places. Spent half an hour being grilled by the cancellation team yesterday and my assertiveness classes of many years ago came in useful. Me 'thank you for telling about all your offers but I only want a PAC code' Him 'yes, yes no problem I'm not trying to sell you anything but let me just tell you about what we can do for you.........'. Me 'thank you but I only want a PAC code' and on and on and on. Eventually got away and got the PAC code - hooray. Shiny new phone arrived but doesn't seem to have a shiny new SIM card so will have to contact them about that -boo.
Going to cinema later with sis and niece, looking forward to that as not been to a film for a few months. OH is away at the mo with work and not back until late tonight.
Have moved money round the accounts to get Reward and the mortgage comes out tomorrow so will see what happens as it should be the new amount coming out but they no longer show the figures on the online info. Will write to them after that to find out about the amount of OP we can do.
Cat is poorly, he is being sick a lot - not every day but every few days. Seems well in himself otherwise. Took him to vet last week but they couldn't find anything obvious and just gave him a couple of injections and relieved me of £40. As he's so long haired it could just be fur irritating his tum but I don't want to assume that in case. He might have to get a paper round to help pay the vet bills :rotfl:0 -
Hello teapot, glad you're feeling better today
Hope you enjoyed the cinema, what did you see?? My DH fancies seeing The Artist but it will probably be mobbed now because of the Oscars!!
Yes, our mortgage balance is all sorted now, checked yesterday & everything is as it should be. It's the normal mortgage payment for us tomorrow as well, we usually get interest added on the 1st (should be low this month seeing as they've already had some) & then the reduced balance shows the next day, is that what happens with you??
Hope your cat is ok, they are such a worry sometimes. Are you suspecting fur balls then if he's long haired?? Getting him a paper round sounds like a good idea to me :rotfl:'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -
Hi Poppy, I'd quite like to see The Artist sometime but it wasn't showing where we went. We saw The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel - great cast but I thought some of it was a bit contrived. Funny and touching as well though, its good to see older actors getting good roles too. Judi Dench was very good I thought.
Yes, the same happens with our mortgage as you described. Look forward to the new figure tomorrow, it might just squeak into the very high end of £34000 though I don't like predicting as that has a habit of going wrong.
I do think the cat's problems might be linked to him being so long haired. I try and brush him every day but he's not keen other than round his head and mane. When I say he's not keen he will quickly get fed up and grab the brush or my hand with all his claws out . I'm keeping a vomit diary [how lovely] in case we need to go back to the vet.

I'm not much of a film buff so haven't heard of that film you went to see
I do like Judi Dench though so will have a google.
Hope you got the mortgage balance you were hoping for today'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -

Hmmm as I suspected it didn't go down as much as I'd thought it would. We are on £35,016 now, I've written to ask them how much we can overpay so we should hear back in a couple of weeks.
Got some books to list on Amazon, sales have been reasonable so that helps too. Popped out today to post a book and had a mooch round the shops then a coffee before going to Mr A. Noticed some prices had gone up yet again .
Getting used to my new phone gradually - its a Blackberry so does lots I don't yet understand or know about.
Paws crossed re the cat - he's only been sick twice since Tuesday so I really hope he's on the mend.0
