OK, are you SURE they operate in Bury?

Sorry - my mistake it is .co.uk

The service is great because they work long hours and I get replies in a very short time.
  • Hi Guys, no one has mentioned the free selling sites such as gumtree and adtrader. They have House for Sale sections and of course have "local" sections.

Can't think of any other free selling sites at the moment, can anyone help? Could be worth checking to see if they have House for Sale sections as well. :j

They do an £85 per month pay as you go or the usual 1% but they do have a max (I think its £3500 ) so anyone with a million pound house could save cash on that basis.

If I had a million pound house to sell, I don't think I'd be too worried about 'saving cash', and I'd list it with one of the agents that routinely sells million pound houses, not a newcomer like this one (regardless of how late they're available on the phone...)
  • Hi

Saving money by selling your own house is something that really appeals to me as I have often in the past paid way over the top on Estate Agency fees when all they did was put a pic of my house in their window (I had to show all viewing round and even had to rewrite their 'stock description').

When looking to sell my property last week, I found a web site havenoagent.com/london which is dedicated to bringing together sellers and buyers, landlords and tenants etc.

They are new and at this stage only based in London (looking around the site it looks asif they might be aimiing on expanding) but nevertheless their concept is great and a nice web site too. The idea is that you can save thousands with HaveNoAgent.com - i can vouch for this as my ad was placed totally free and I wasnt tied in to anything.
There are useful bits and bobs too, like the google maps and linking in with Twitter etc (not so useful for me personally but good if you are a Twit!)
Anyway, it seemed a little too good to be true, but after speaking to them my doubts were put to bed as they are new and just trying to do things differently and that means giving away the service free!:T
  • I used a online company in Scotland scottishhousemove.com I had agents out but they all quoted me about £3K to sell my house. I paid them £500 ish upfront and to be honest was worried that I would have thrown my dosh down the drain. But it really was money well spent. Although it took 6 months to sell I was very impressed with them. They always knew where my sale was and fed back viewings by email or to my mobi. They told me that they used to have high street shops but changed to online doing the same thing, so they knew that game inside out.

I sent a friend to them as well and they sold it in a few weeks. Where I am based you need to advertise on rightmove and as they do I think that is where most of the viewers came from. May not be to everyones cup of tea but they made an interesting point to me before I signed up when they asked me if I had every visited an estate agent's shop to look for property. I said I never did and they pointed out that less than 5% of all buyers ever visit estate agents now, everyone just looks online.

If you are in Scotland I would recommend them if you want to save a bit of dosh.
  • We have our first viewing on Saturday. :j

House has been on for two weeks so was starting to get worried.

As we are using an online company we will have to show them around ourselves.

Will let you know how it goes and how the estate agents are at chasing feedback etc

A young estate agent told me the same this time last year when I was selling.
He also said that logically they should be running the business from a porta cabin on the cheapest local industrial estate BUT as with banks, the SELLERS expected a reasonably plush shop in the high street.

I suppose that is why salesmen compete to have a swish car - the customers fall for the appearance rather than the substance.

Part of the reason they own a million pound house in the first place is because they constantly look at saving cash. You will find many an expensive house registered on free advertising sites.

For sites that offer free services, it's best to search "where can I list my house for free" on google. Theres quite a few sites. Also Gumtree has already been mentioned.

If you want a professional looking "For Sale" board. They have created them specifically for private sellers at 4saleboard.com. Its defitintely worth a look. Please don't call this spam, you can check my previous posts and its relevant to the OP :)
