So much for Housenet - I am selling my home in Perthshire and checked their site with a view to advertising on it after reading this thread - they have NO properties for sale in Scotland:(

I don't know whether this matters, as long as the potential buyers use Rightmove or one of the other internet sites they offer. We were in Manchester and our house sold once we got the price right. All our viewers came via the Internet, as far as I know.

Do people in Scotland use Rightmove?

It's not used as much as it is in England & Wales. I get the impression that it's used more in and around Glasgow, but doesn't have much impact in the Edinburgh area.

I have just put a property on the market with a new company called 1stchoiceagents.co.uk who operate in the Bury area. For £85 per month they came to measure and photograph, put the property on right move, supply a for sale board and brochures. As the property is not in the Bury area, I am doing my own viewings, but I'm hoping that I will be saving a lot of money compared to local agents who would be taking £2000/£2500 once the property has sold. I will just pay the monthly fee and can cancel it at any time. The guys that have set this up are from the states and so service is soooo much better than what we are used to here.:T

    £85 per month? That's new.

OK, I'll bite - what is 'so much better' about their service?

Bear in mind when answering this that those who are immediately full of lavish praise for a 'new start' website like this with their first post are treated with a certain..... scepticism, let's say.

OK, are you SURE they operate in Bury?

The URL above auto-redirects to http://www.quadcityliving.com/ who seem to be a genuinely American firm of realtors operating out of Iowa .....

I think it should be .co.uk, they are listed on RightMove but with only one property! I suppose every company has to start somewhere, although they have their own phone number mistyped on the "about us" page.

I've just taken a contract with Housenetwork after a disappointing 12 weeks with a local agent. However, I'm not sure this is "selling your own" as they are an estate agent, just without a high street shop.

    Yup, .co.uk

For a company that makes customer service their first priority, they're very keen to outline their complaints procedure in full on their website.... strange.

RightMove only accept "property professionals", estate agents, developers, etc.

"Cheapest" depends on how much you expect to sell for, how you want to pay and how quick (if!) you sell - there are a few mentioned in this thread that have differerent models. For instance Housenetwork charge less in total if you pay a higher proportion up front (moving the risk of no sale from the agent to yourself), another company I spoke to, "Isold", charge a fixed fee of about £1K (but on no sale no fee). But remember that the buyers will contact the agent, not you, so you are buying a service not just advertising.

They do an £85 per month pay as you go or the usual 1% but they do have a max (I think its £3500 ) so anyone with a million pound house could save cash on that basis.
