If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel
  • I'm looking for a Summer holiday for the four of us including 2 boys aged 6 & 4. I looked on Mumsnet for recommendations, & Cap Esteril was 3rd in their list of top picks. It appealed to me most of all, because there seemed to be alot there for the children. What they don't say is how many people have reviewed it, so...

I'd be interested to know if anyone's been, & if so their experiences.

Also, we'd like to have 3 days at DLP, prior to a week there. So anybody got any good ideas on how to travel? Do any of our cheaper airlines, offer internal flights within France, or would the train be better? Should we drive to DLP, leave the car in Paris & fly to the Cote D'Azur, returning to collect the car after our week there?

Can anyone suggest a child orientated holiday village closer to DLP? Or a good alternative to all of it?

We would prefer to go later in the school holidays, our school re-opens on Monday the 4th of September, so as long as we're home that weekend it's fine. We can take the ferry, the Eurostar, the Eurotunnel or fly from London, Birmingham or Luton. We're quite flexible, & not on too tight a budget.

Just looking for advice about going away during school holidays. I can travel most times, but my friend's a teacher so she must go during hols.

The cheapest flights I can see to NYC in July or August are over £500. Am I missing something, or would this planned city break to New York cost us over £800 each  ?

If so, I don't think I can justify spending so much more than the off peak price. Can anyone suggest a better value short break, around five days?

    Thanks.

Hey, I wondered if you could help me and my partner who are looking to go to New York in May (see dates tho). Otherwise are there any other cheaper times to go (not July or August tho when its mega humid), maybe just after the summer? We're just considering the cost thats all. We must have a central hotel, 3* ideally. Any help would be fab tho!

1-All airports you can fly from - Any Midlands ideally (manchester/birmingham etc) but if travelling to a London airport makes things cheaper then thats fine.

2-Duration - We were thinking 10 or 7 days unless 5 days will make it a lot cheaper

3-1st & last dates to leave the UK - We can leave any time after 19th May, but must be back before 2nd June. We can travel on any day of the week.

    4-Are night flights acceptable ? - Yep

5-Party size & kids ages - 2 adults (one student one U26 if it makes any difference)

6-Board basis you require (ie self-catering, all-inclusive, h/b, bb...etc) Room only is fine but if breakfast is included and doesnt cost much thats good too.

7-Type of resort, ie quiet, lively - 3* hotel (unless any really big deals on something better), close to times square (ie central and close to main attractions)

8-Any resorts/countries you WOULD NOT go to - Looking at NY only at the mo.

9-Any other neccesary factors, ie must have kids - no

10-Prices required by what day/time? - As soon as possible really, the next day or so?

11-Max. budget FOR THE WHOLE PARTY!!! Expecting to pay £1,500, something lower would be excellent but would go to £1,700.

    Thanks

Malc1...have a look at the The Indian Resort & Spa in Mauritius with http://www.mercury-direct.co.uk/mercury/viewhotel.php?hotelcode=muir&season=sum
your dates its 1029 per adult and 675 per child
    its 4*+ HB

Seychelles...IMHO opinion I wouldnt go for the Banyan and to be honest with your budget I dont think you could get even a week and the Islands are worth spending 10 days to 2 weeks at least save your money and go 3-4* and then see La Digue and Prasline's Valley De Mai are stunning also Bird Island is worth a night or 2 which will cost you about 140pp per night with flights.
Ste. Anne Marine National Park is a World Heritage Site the diving off the islands is fantastic.
It is close to the main island of Mahe so you dont have far to go, also the island of Cerf and Round are close by. Children are really well took care of in all of the hotels.
Have alook at the Fisherman's Cove on Mahe
Banyan is $1,029 per night per room in low season Room only
Fishermans Cove (le Meridien) is $533 per rom and pay for 10 get 2 free on BB
Another hotel is the Plantation Club again on Mahe near Bay Lizare (stunning) $290 per night on BB
The Seychelles are not cheap when you get there our bar bill in a 3* hotel was well over £1000 for 2 weeks and we are not big drinkers.
Eating out for lunch will cost about 25-30 for a snack lunch.
We paid 1300 each to go in June which is low season and we had rain every day
We went in June 91 so that will give you an idea of the cost.
Yes the area is wonderful but think about the time your going and the 11-15 hour flight depending on if its direct or stop over.
If you want any more info just PM me

http://www.maurice-seychelles.com/uk/plantation-club-hotel-seychelles.html link for the Plantation which as one of the best kids clubs on the island
