There's a few round mine which go STC but within a month are back to "Available". Seems a very common occurrence

    This is tedious now.
1/4 mile - nothing for sale. None to rent
1/2 mile - nothing for sale. None to rent.
1 Mile - 7 for sale, if we include a building plot. 1 to rent.
One sold STC for £450k, which is nice, 'cos it's very like mine:beer:
Hamish would be proud of me. :o

    Round my way:

25 for sale (some are multi agents for the same property)
    4 sstc

    Now:
    27 for sale (")
    3 sstc

not much difference. Only 1 has dropped its price according to the bee.

Current transaction levels equate to houses changing hands every 20 years.........

There were a few transactions involving my neighbours in the gated barn community last year, but now the bottom seems to have fallen out of the market for upside-down living. ;)

(or should that be the top?)

    Round my way too....

    223 houses for sale
    142 houses STC

    365 in total

I'm quite surprised to be honest, though saying that anything half way decent goes pretty quickly.

Next door was up for sale as "needs updating" and sold within 3 weeks.

I did notice when going to a friend's a couple of houses go up for sale recently and they were sold within days.

I'm still surprised but houses are still selling, the house I mentioned above as "needing updating" has new owners and very nice they are too.

Next door on the other side is for sale and hasn't sold in about 3 months - it needs updating too, on the inside not the outside which is lovely - the owners are both academics and tidying up a house to sell is outside their terms of reference.

It has a rear extension which was turned into a small self contained annex, the small kitchen and bathroom were created by utilising half of the garage - not what everyone wants I imagine.

Not a big change and it will be interesting to see what happens over the winter.

    181 for sale

    120 sstc

    301 in total

Less for sale but the ratio of sstc to for sale is greater.

Next door still hasn't sold - no surprise there.

Are you implying that we always manage to lower the tone????

Once we move the old caravan off one side of the lawn and the old white Renault van off the other side, that and cut back the couple of shrubs that have totally obscured the study window and give the skip company a call to come and remove the 12cubic metre skip from one side of the drive, things won't look so bad.

You sound like our neighbours when we were trying to sell in 2008.

Lovely people; do anything for you, except tidy up. :p

(Hah, but they paid more than we sold for, two years earlier!:rotfl:)

    We are lovely people.

We have seriously considered moving the caravan and the white Renault van - one sits each side of the garden path. It will make life easier for the post man, cut down on his walking distance and time as he will be able walk diagonally across the garden which he can't do at the moment. The milkman would probably benefit too.

But the caravan is useful for out of house storage, I think I need to go on a diet as it's getting extremely difficult to transport things to and from it - it is parked next to a hedge and has only about a foot between it and the hedge, which results in loads of scratches each time I have to use it - the other possible solution would be cut back the hedge. That would probably be the best option tbh - the caravan has a full size cooker which is useful at Xmas, if I cut back the hedge it would probably stop the sprouts and stuffing getting an unintended smattering of privet and twigs on Xmas day.

The white Renault van is useful for transporting stuff to the tip although it has been about 3 years since it was used for tip duties and I think it is in danger of being reclaimed by the earth. Are white Renault vans biodegradable?

We got the 12cubic metre skip when we decided to clear out our attic (although we have a big house, neither of us are great at geometry) - it has currently got across the road's old back door and utility room cupboards in it, along with another neighbour's old bathroom suite (could be quite handy as we are thinking of changing ours), 2 old Xmas trees (artificial) and an old filing cabinet of ours - a couple knocked yesterday and asked if they could have the filing cabinet, naturally we said they could and after trying for an hour to get it out of the skip they are coming back this morning with friends to help them.

It's quite odd having a skip as it seems to be self perpetuating - it fills up - it emptiies - it fill up - it empties - and all without any help from us - most strange.....
