Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for 20th August 2010. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier![*]As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.[*]When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.[*]Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just fine.
Morning.
What a rubbish day. Fog, rain and wind. Really nasty. Glad I am not in a tent or packing one up :rotfl:
You know its summer at my house when my boat on the drive is full of water and I am not in it on the water.
Work later and then pick up my daughter from camp. I am sure they will be glad to come home after todays weather.
Not much else to say.... The weather depresses me...:(

Good Morning All!
Oh dear N9eav - sorry your weather looks so depressing. It really does set the mood for the day, doesn't it. I'll just whisper the fact that here there is currently more blue than grey in the sky, so it could go either way! My WM is on, so my fingers are crossed for a good drying day.
Have various church related tasks today, paperwork (which seems to have "walked" so will need a search of my desk) and some more practical bits like looking for keys for a cupboard or getting a new lock sorted.
The chap who is tiling/redecorating our kitchen has been very unwell so chaos stays there - but he is coming round today to crack on with the tiling.
Ironing is all up to date, but need to clean the bedrooms and bathroom a bit I think today. Supper will include runner beans as I've just been out to pick a large handful.
Thanks again for all support re situation with DS - as I said yesterday, it's really appreciated.Resolution:

Morning N9eav, beemuzed & everyone else
Weather a bit dreich here, but not as bad as Cornwall (but there's time yet!)
DS back from holiday this morning, collecting him from his GF's later.
Got to finish ironing & putting away clothes before I have to do all DS holiday stuff - what fun!
Hope it's not too rainy later on, as I need to crack on with picking brambles to freeze, ready for jam-making etc. Spuds nearly ready, just hanging on a bit longer so they've as much chance as possible to get to a decent size.
Hope you all have a decent start to the day; off for a cuppa now, see you later.

Oh, N9eav - so sorry about the weather there. I won't mention what it's like here!
Beemuzed - thinking about you and your DS.
Well, the WM is on with just a few hand-washed clothes being spun. The breakfast table is laid, and the tubs and containers have been watered.
I need to collect the kitchen wall tiles we ordered weeks and weeks ago. They were supposed to have taken ten days to be delivered to the shop! It's just as well we haven't been seriously waiting for them - we still have plastering and painting to do.
More plastering today in the attic bedroom - it's going to be lovely when it's done but I still don't know what to do about curtains. The window are odd sizes and in odd positions, too, so deciding what to do will be a bit of a challenge!
Anyway, I'm sure it will get sorted one way or the other. Dinner will be belly pork strips (currently on offer here and really good value), which I will make a barbecue-type marinade for, and do with salad and potatoes. Lunch is undecided - maybe soup.
Hope you all have a great day today and that the sun shines for you all.

Morning all,
Hope everyone is ok today and that the weather improves for you Neav
I was awake early and have made porridge, emptied the DW, put the clean pots away from the draining board, reloaded the DW and put some washing on. Now back in bed for a bit! I am determined to be more productive today after a rubbish week. Aims for the rest of the day are to clean the bathrooms, sort out my friend's wedding present and card, sort out the bits I need to take to the wedding tomorrow, bake some cakes for the friend who is looking after the dog for us and do some more washing. And have a nap! It will be a long day tomorrow and big baby bump means I get v tired.
I'm thinking that Jamie Oliver American style pancakes would be good for breakfast on Sunday morning!
Hope everyone has a good day.

Morning all It is a dreich miserable wet day here!!!! Fingers crossed it picks up for the weekend. Washing is done but it can stay there in the meantime, hopefully it will brighten up later on. Nothing exciting today other than work - and my that is so exciting!!!! Will have to get ready tonight for our weekend away courtesy of our family for our silver wedding, which I am really looking forward to as its the Old Course hotel in St Andrews, hubby is quite nervous since its so posh and a five star but hey-ho our money is the same as theirs in my opinion!!!(and at least its not on a credit card!) LOL. Must move now but will catch up with you all later, hope you have a good day and hugs to those that are needing them,

Morning all
Very overcast here, it rained last night & looks like it may do so again soon, so the washing will go over the maiden.
I think we are having a lazy day today now the work upstairs is done, though I need to give it all a clean through.
I went to WI last night & suffered strawberry overload, it was our strawberry supper, we had strawberry flan, strawberry trifle, strawberry's on scones & strawberrys with cream!
Lunch today will be tuna, red onion & bean salad for me, bacon sarnie for hubby, tea will be lamb chops with new pots & beans, with not a strawberry in site.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Thanks for starting the new thread, N9eav. I love that it's always up by the time I've made my coffee!
I'm still full o' the cold and feeling worse today than yesterday! However. I need to go out this morning to get cold meds - have already checked mysupermarket for the cheapest option and will check Superdrug as I walk by en route to Mr A.
Will be doing the barest minimum today - reboot DW, put BM on and freeze the chilli the SC made yesterday. I did get my desk cleared off yesterday and started sorting out the drawers so may do some more of that (have a new OU course starting soon and like to begin the term organised) but shall otherwise be found knitting and watching the goggle-box.

DD(24) has set off for work, DH is downstairs watching news in peace and quiet and two other DDs are still asleep.
DD(21) has an interview for a possible temp job this morning so will offer a cooked brekkie if she wants for "good vibes". Her 16 year old sister is going out to meet friends so looks like a quiet day.
DH is frantically packing up everything in boxes ready for house move on the 4th and I try to keep out of the way.
Have lasagne and home made potato and leek soup in fridge so that gives a choice of lunch for us and plan to bake a huge quiche for tea. Might see if I have enough flan cases to make several smaller ones to make a variety - use up a courgette in one and put asparagus (tinned) in another, as well as a bacon onion and tomato one. Have some left over new potatoes so could make homity pie as well.
Will phone EA today to try to arrange a second look at the house so we can measure up a bit.
Hugs to all"This site is addictive!"

Morning all
Dull, overcast and wet here this morning, rained for most of the night and looks like we could be getting some more today.
Last night's dinner was leftover chicken and some sausages that needed using up, mixed up into cooked rice, with onion, curry powder, garlic and tomato sauce (makes a curry paste) then added mushrooms and peas. Oh nearly forgot, beat some eggs and cook them first to make an omlette take this out of pan, cut into strips then put back into pan at the end once all the rice etc is cooked - make sure everything is piping hot and serve. We then had some rhubarb crumble left so that got finished off too.
Yesterday was reasonably productive, managed to get everything that had been washed, dried and then ironed - basket was empty but that won't last! Will be going to the bank later, food shopping and then cooking and packing later. Sorted out a couple of places at home where they get used for "dumping" stuff and found a brand new pair of shoes I'd bought in a sale then promptly forgotten about! Also a few bits that can go in the Xmas/Birthday box. Haven't a clue what to have for dinner tonight, may get some inspiration in MrA.
Need to crack on as quite a bit to do today.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.
