Ha, How about another challenge to take a guess on when we will revert to the historical average of the base rate at 5.0%.
It could take some time to get back up there, but who knows what the rate setters may do if inflation does not fall back.

I would like to throw my hat in the ring. Rate rise of 0.5% in June '12 with a 0.25% increase again in November '12. Not sure if I am 'allowed' two goes.......however I hope to fail and thus OP more during '12. Thanks2004 £387k 29 years - MF March 2033:eek:

I remember at the time saying Jan 2012 seemed such a long way away - now it's almost with us, and it appears we're going to have at least another year of super low rates - the only issue is to do with how the break up of the Euro hits us - which I think could be a good thing for our economy...Feb 2012 - onwards MF achieved
September 2016 - Back into clearing a mortgage - Was due to be paid off in 32 years in March 2047 -
April 2018 down to 28.00 months vs 30.04 months at normal payment.
Predicted mortgage clearing 03/2047 - now looking at 02/2045
Aims: 1) To pay off mortgage within 20 years - 20370
