Evening. Had a fantastic drum lesson, teacher wrote out an exercise and he said I was the only one not to struggle with it.
Then got a great whoopsie haul at Morrisons, a whole cooked chicken for £1.49 which I'll butcher and freeze in portions, and a big bag of cooked sausages for 40p which will do me for the next few days. And I got a sneaky few beers.
Lou, great news on DS's results. I did the same in AS maths, resat a module to improve my grade and did worse than the first time, oops.
Pooky, I love learning and I'm happy to do further study as an adult, but I think it's because I'm there through choice rather than because it's 'expected'. I really think there's far too much pressure on kids to go to uni now, it's not healthy for them or for the country/society as a whole. *climbs off soapbox*Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
OMG, OMG I have just asked for a transfer of £3000 from my credit card to my bank account so that I can buy myself a car. How scary and how grown up!
Based on what Martin said - if you need a loan for a car to get from A to B and B is work, then it is not a bad debt!! If I carry on paying my loan at approx £300 per month, then it will be paid this time next year and I will have a car which will save getting the bus into work in the horrible winter.

I do, as long as I don't lose my job of course! I was really looking forward to being debt free in November though, but have been desperate for a car all my driving life. I have never owned one of my own

what sort of car, tenmah. I'd recommend a Skoda Fabia, i have one and it's been hardly any trouble - apart from normal wear and tear on tyres, bulbs, oil, etc.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!

Go for it Tenmah - if it's affordable and will save you time, effort and money in the long run then it's a good thing.
Ames - well done on the whoopsie haul, sounds like a good few meals worth there. I went into a small local sainsburys yesterday - hardly ever go as it's quite pricey but they had mature cheddar yellow stickered from £8.95 a kilo to £3.00....I picked up the last 3 kilos.....it went out of date today but hey - it's cheese - it's gone off milk.....the date doesn't matter!!! (have grated it all and frozen it down in portions to prolong it)

I just want a small automatic really - no particular make in mind. There is one in the local paper that is ideal. It is a Citreon C3, 2002 reg for £2850, but if the transferral of money is approved it takes 6 days, so would have thought this car will go before then. I might phone them tomorrow to see :jOD [STRIKE] £2600 [/STRIKE] £0 :j Loan [STRIKE]£9500.00[/STRIKE] £0 :j Car [STRIKE]£3150[/STRIKE] £0 :j Moving Costs [STRIKE]£1300[/STRIKE] £0 :j Savings £1150 :j

Tenmah, I've got a C3, it's great. Check in parker's guide for the price though, they only cost about 8k brand new so an eight year old one should be fairly cheap. I'd say that one's on the high side. I saw a C1 for £2300 and that was only five years old a few weeks ago.
ETA just seen that's an automatic, so it's probably about right.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
go for a few test drives, tenmah, get an idea of what type suits you.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!
