Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for 19th August 2010. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier![*]As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.[*]When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.[*]Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just fine.
Morning

Dull here. Looks like rain, fog and wind for the next 3 days. Rubbish summer again and not much honey from my bees either because of it. Red Arrows are in Fowey near us tonight, but the low cloud and rain will scupper that for the evening.

Work later, so lazy morning with perhaps a hint of bacon and egg.

Sold 3 cucumbers from the poly house yesterday that makes 63 now so far this summer.
I see that Wilkinsons have 75% off a lot of seed and gardening stuff. Well worth a visit if you have one near you...

Coffee is brewing, have a good day

Hi N9eav - what a successful cucumber season you've had! Hope the weather brightens up for the Red Arrows.

Well, it's a bit overcast this morning but we've been promised hot and sunny, so we'll see what happens. The WM is with the first of two loads, so I hope to get it out on the line later.

Beemuzed - thinking about your DS.

I have to spend the morning helping DH to plaster an awkward ceiling in the attic bedroom (I think I just have to wash the buckets and trowels out in between mixes, not actually plaster!). The plaster here goes off in an hour so everything needs to be washed out before it sets. The finish is good, though, because it dries to an off-white, and not the usual dull pink you get with UK plaster. It gives a good idea of what it will look like once it's painted. I shall be glad when this particular room is finished; it seems to have taken ages. We could have got it finished sooner but DH took a plastering break for a couple of days and went glossing instead!

Anyway, dinner tonight is chicken breast, probably with pasta and sauce. Lunch will be some HM tomato soup, probably, and breakfast is porridge and pain au chocolat, so I don't think we'll be going hungry! I need to make some bread so I'd better get the BM on in a minute.

It's less than three weeks until we leave for the UK, so I'm trying to concentrate on pressies for my DS1's birthday (39, yikes! Where did all those years go?), and my Mum's 80th. I also have quite of lot of work on at the moment, all with tight deadlines, so I'm a bit time poor, I think!

I've just visited a thread on here that is recommending Weezl's blog, and I can honestly say that it's a brilliant site, full of great recipes and ways of really saving on food. In case any of you haven't come across it, here's the link http://www.cheap-family-recipes.org.uk/ I hope its OK to post a link to a blog? Not sure what the rules are nowadays.

Anyway, hope you all have a great day.

Good morning everyone, up early this morning as the sun is shining brightly so didnt want to miss it - also the neighbour was pulling his wheelie bins out at quarter to six over his gravel drive or would have probably slept on for another half hour - never mind the washing is on, the kettle is on and I suppose I will have to go back to work today after a few days off since the lottery didnt come up last night!!!! Not really got much in the pipeline other than work today not even sure what will be for this evenings meal - I seem to have run out of steam when it comes to being organised this week, never mind tomorrows Friday!!!! Hope you all have a good day

Ugh - the road sweeper came round before 6.30 this morning and woke me up, now my feet are being licked by the dogs - makes me shiver - ugh.

Lovely day here, but have had enough of unpacking the boxes for a while, so think that I'll take the children out for the day - we're off to the centre of the earth - Magna. Hopefully it will keep them quiet for a while! Dinner is leftovers - or whatevers is whoops at Mr T
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

    Morning!

I am hoping for a calmer day today as I ended up tearing a strip of DS-D last night for being a sneak and endangering her brother & sister. DH hasnt seen her yet so no doubt she'll get another shouting at this morning. I was so annoyed that I told her I wasn't taking her out for her tea on her birthday (Monday) - and I meant it!

DH is off for two days now :j I'm looking forward to him being in when I get home from work today and spending the day with him tomorrow

Will pop WM on before work and DW - I have some sad looking celery which will make a nice soup tonight and I have to do an on line shop at some point today.

Sore today but I've been much better lately so can handle an 'off day' or two :D
