I booked return flights to Sharm with KISS (Viking Airlines) on Sunday night to travel on 18th September.
Luckily (?) I saw very early that they had gone bust so have managed to rebook with Easyjet tonight without paying too much more.
So - i've now paid twice - nearly £1600 in total.
Can any of you experts out there tell me how long it will take to get a refund from the CAA - or can I claim back from my credit card (I paid extra to book using the credit card just in case!)
Also, does anyone know whether I will get the full cost back, including the £18 for booking by CC?
I'd be grateful for any advice.
Coincidentally, we only booked this as flights we had booked from Bournemouth to Jersy with BMI Baby were cancelled last month when they stopped the route ... this holiday is clearly jinxed!0 -
Sorry - should have added to my previous post that we paid the extra for the ATOL protection.0

Hardly a surprise but I feel for those who are caught up in the mess. Hope the public are starting to see that they've had it good for too long and that the stupidly cheap prices that have been around are no more. It's simple really, to keep a plane in the air money has to be made (unless you're BA
) :j :j0 -
I dont believe it, Kiss Flights have gone down the pan
I absolutely can believe it.
Why? Phil Wyatt. I recall when the Kiss Flights/Viking Airlines project was born just days after the XL failure, some travel agents point blanked refused to book on them. Its the only way these ****s will learn.
End of story. Sweepstake on the name of the next Wyatt&Co operation? My money is on Fly-by-night?0 -
Was booked (by Del who posts on this board) to travel to Sharm with Kiss on Thursday. Was told alternative flight would be £2300 vs the original £1350 so had to cancel. The fids ar really disappointed, especially when we realised that if we'd be due to travel 24hrs earlier then the CAA are protecting flights till 6PM Wednesday.
Am now hoping to get my money back but am expecting a nightmare on being bounced around between CAA, the credit card company and the travel insurance. All in all not a good evening.
Bu**er !!!!!

I had booked flights, hotel and transfers with Flightline, Essex, travel next week. Spent 3 hours trying to contact them (they advertise various numbers and "till late")then at 10pm a notice appears (timed at 9pm) with some details saying they are laying on extra staff etc etc. I read that as we might have a holiday they will rearrange my flights - will these be at different prices? I assume I can turn down the flights and keep the hotel, transfers?
While we failed to get hold of flightline or understand what was covered or not, the CAA etc all said we would have to claim for a refund and not fly, we have tried to rebook elsewhere. The messages were to try and book quickly before flights and holidays shot up. Unfortuantely the only cheap flights left were with onthebeach............. when we booked and paid the "receipt" we have says thanks for your order, but it is only provisional and could take up to 48 hours to be confirmed? Is that legal? Has anyone had a "provisional" booking rejected, or, cynical me, incresed in price?

XL go bust. Within days, Kiss Flights spring up, with an ex-XL director at the helm. The website has a very familiar feel about it, the T&Cs are word for word the same as XL's, and in parts still refered to XL (they did for a few days anyway before being removed).
The main airline Kiss Flights use is Viking. A Swedish airline that had been doing some flying for XL. Surprise surprise, Viking get some new investors, Black Pearl Investments. Guess who's behind that investment company? Some ex-XL guys of course! Viking Airlines acquire Boeing 737-800s, funnily enough, previously operated by XL. They set up UK bases for their new flying programme.
Meanwhile, another XL head honcho joins Goldtrail. They are a succesful Turkey operator, who employ the bloke to set up a new Greece programme for them. Their existing Turkey programme uses airlines based in Turkey, however for the Greece flights, they turn to, well, you guessed it..... Viking!
All very cosy and incestuous!0
