It's taken a few days reading (on and off) but I've finally made my way through this thread.
I'm waiting for a £15 Amazon voucher (through Toluna, so who knows when I'll receive it) but when it comes in I'll be ordering this book, plus a few other bits and pieces (burger press, egg rings etc).
Cannae wait to try out all the recipes, you have all inspired me.
When the book does arrive, I'll have to read through this thread again, in order to makes notes on the "tweeks" you lot have posted for some of the recipes, ohh and to remind myself where to buy some of the ingredients. :rotfl:
Thanks to you all for inspiring me.0 -
So far I've tried the doner kebab & the burgers - both of which were delicious. I'm going to try the tandoori chicken next as it's the one thing I always order from our local Indian takeaway. I'm never bought/cooked with chicken thighs before, so can someone advise me on which ones to buy. I usually buy online from Sainsbury's, & they have skinless thigh fillets & chicken thighs. Is it important to buy skinless, or is it easy enough taking the skin off yourself?
Thank you

Sophie - Thigh fillets have no bones in, thighs do. No sure what it asked for haven't made it yet
. I always buy thigh fillets when it asks for breats as the meat to me is much nicer
ps it easy to skin themYou know your getting old when yougo to the pub sit outsideand admire the hanging basket

I made the sweet and sour chicken balls last week, and the stuffed crust pizza and chicken strips on Friday - they were lovely! I have enough dough for one more pizza in the freezer, and sauce to make 2.Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0

If anyone wants to make the take away style chicken, pakoras etc but doesn't have or want the faff and expense of a deep fat fryer, take a look at this.

It is tiny, I have just bought one but I knew it would be tiny which is what I wanted.
I had been cooking the chicken pieces in a medium pan with a few cm's of oil in but was a bit concerned about it overheating, this has a thermostat.
We do have a large deep fat fryer which I have used a handful of times if that over the past 10 years!
However, this little thing will be ok just to do onion rings etc.
I probably won't even use the basket in it as it is very small, so I will use without the basket and use a slotted spoon to drain the things out of it.
Just been to measure it and the inside is 13.5cm x 13.5cm x 11cm deep.
Outer measurements, 18cm x 18cm x 18cm.
To give you and idea of the capacity, I have just put a mars bar in the basket (wrapped, I'm not into fried mars bars!) and it would fit diagonaly across the basket (just).
Without the basket you could fit 3 mars bars perhaps 4 if they were pressed firmly side by side.
So, as I say it is tiny but may be of use to some of you out there if you don't need to fry a lot (otherwise you would have to fry in batches).
A plus point is it only takes half a litre of oil, so you won't be too bothered about binning that if you cook something stinky!0 -
