Kebab yesterday (bit for lunch, rest in freezer) and basic curry sauce and chicken curry for tea. Today I've just constructed Koftkas, dough for pitta and southern fried chicken from Lidl chicken legs at £1.72 for 5, split into thighs and drumsticks. Much better bargain than the 2 for £6 in Asda.
So, tea tonight for husband and me is koftka and DS gets the chicken, with leftovers from both for another 2 portions of each. I've still got kebab sauce left over from yesterday.
Am now having a well earned rest
You are right, it is addictive.
The only thing is the amount of extra calories we are consuming whilst experimenting with the recipes.0 -
Well I made the doner kebab yesterday and was a little bit disappointed. They were nice but not like the chippy. I think the problem was that like most I have to get onion and garlic granules, I measured the 1 teaspoon of each then ground them up a bit but I dont think it was the same amount as if I had the powder so next time I will double theses and see how I go.
Hubby did like it tho and I have to say one think that was missing was the greasyness that you get from the chippy, I have to say this I did not miss! LOL0 -
Last night hubby & I made the chicken pakora - yummy!!
We also did the spiced onions to go with poppadoms - these were very good, but a little less mint sauce next time.
We then did the south indian garlic chilli chicken tikka - only used 1 chilli & it was hot! Very good.
Did the pilau rice too, all in all a resounding success :j
Have 6 portions of the basic curry sauce in the freezer
Today we did the sausage & egg muffins, these were yummy too.0 -

I would def try it again with the powder. I bought my garlic powder from Lidl, I think it was 70p and the onion powder from Sainsburys, I think that was about 97p.
I made my 2nd attempt last night (well, 3 actually as I froze 2 of them) and it was just as good as my first attempt which was great.
You are right about the fat content. We have bought huge kebabs and zapped the meat the following day and always had orange grease on the plate after zapping, if you do that with these the fat is virtually non existant. My husband says it reminds him of the old Fry Crisp N' Dry advert where there was hardly any grease on the paper towel.0 -

My 15yo said the same lolSometimes not moving backwards is as much an achievement as moving forwards is on other times. (originally posted by kidcat)
It's only a bargain if you were going to buy it anyway!0 -
I've just done the fillet of fish burger for dinner and its pretty tastey (although pretty basic). Forgot to take pics and to be honest I've never had one from the golden arches so dontknow if its authentic but I'm pretty sure I'll do it againEmma

I made the Char Siu Pork with egg fried rice, I can't eat it (garlic intolerance) but OH and DD gave it the definate thumbs up and emptied their plates. It's worth making the sauce from the marinade too, they loved it poured over the pork.
I'ts a great dish to do if you're out all day, prepare the pork and boil the rice the night before and keep in the fridge, then stick the pork in the oven for 40 minutes when you get in from work. There's only about 10-15 minutes where you're standing at the cooker doing the fried rice & marinade.Dum Spiro Spero0
