My 11yo asked me yestersday if we could have the Lamb Doner Kebab every week! Says it all really.
I'm happy to oblige as it is sooooooo easy to make and with the salad and pitta pretty healthy too. :j
Thanks to the OP for livening up my menus! :beer:Ageing is a privilege not everyone gets.

I know what you mean, I start off thinking I will try one thing and end up making another.
I did try the potato fritters last night to go with the chicken popcorn but I wasn't impressed with them.
It could have been me though, not sure if I had the oil too hot and didn't cook them for long enough before I put them in the oven.
The batter was soft and didn't have much flavour. I think I may use the breadcrumb mix instead if I do them again (the one from the chicken strip recipe).0 -

has anyone tried this using quorn chicken?
I have used the Quorn fillets as hubby is a veggie and did it in the southern fried style and he said it was nice, I just pan fried it to seal then finished in the oven - hope that helps.0 -
made the doner kebab yesterday, it was fabbalous (infact i had to eat another one a couple of hours later!:D). the recipe is great, i had right kerfuffle with my new mincer though, didnt seem to like the breast of lamb i had bought, it took about an hour to mince 1 1/2 kgs of meat:mad:. it was soooooo frustrating, i ended up doing 3 smaller ones as i did 1 1/2 times the recipe anyway & when i noticed the 1 hour 20 mins cooking time i thought i'd faint with hunger if i had to wait that long, & i like the crunchy bit on the outside anyway so that wasnt an issue.
incidently my 3 cats were going mental over it, they normally only go like that when theres a roast chicken on the go! & no , i didnt even share it with them!:rotfl:'there goes an old transexual, last seen heading south,
her friends call her Bernie but her real name is Ralph'

Morning everyone :j
My son has just finished his egg & sausage muffin and said it was really nice. So now I'm just waiting for OH to get in from work to make some for him.
I didn't stick to the recipe, mainly because I'm a cooking disaster waiting to happenSearched high and low for the sage I bought then realised I'd bought parsley instead (always write a list befor shopping!!!) Then discovered I'd ran out of salt... not quite sure how I managed that!!
It was a sucsess though :T My next mission is doner kebab, can't wait.Even if you stumble, you're still moving forward.0 -
My book arrived this morning! :j
The donner kebab is in the oven as we speak, 10 minutes to go, the salad and white kebab sauce is all ready. I was going to make the red kebab sauce until I realised I didn't have any tomato ketchup or mint sauce.Dum Spiro Spero0 -
Well we had pizza today - the Marguerita one.
Sauce was easy peasy, did the dough in my Kitchenaid and obviously the only other toppings after the sauce was cheese and tomato.
Recipe stated gas mark 9 but after 10 mins I could see it was starting to burn on the edges so I reduced the heat to gas mark 7.
Kids gave it another thumbs up and said it was better than the shop bought one we usually have on a Saturday night.
I think next time I'll cook the base for 5 mins on gas 7 and then add the toppings after and keep at at this temp and see how that works.
Served it with the Pitta salad (but no pittas obviously!).
The best bit is that I've now got 3 little pots of sauce (each has enough to top 1 pizza) and 1 lot of dough in the freezer so it will be much quicker to do next time. :T
Hoping to do Chicken Tikka next week...Ageing is a privilege not everyone gets.

Has anyone seen jars of Garlic and Ginger paste in Tesco?
I think I may have a go at the Seekh Kebab but the paste is oner ingredient I have yet to buy.
I suppose I could always buy a jar of minced garlic and one of minced ginger and just use ½ tsp of each.
Although I have just seen jars of minced garlic at Tesco but it is powdered, I assumed the minced one would be the paste style.
I've looked in both Tesco & Morrisons with no luck.
Yesterday I ordered some from here... http://www.theasiancookshop.co.uk/laziza-garlic--ginger-paste-2299-p.asp
They also sell onion powder (I've only been able to find onion granules in the supermarkets) http://www.theasiancookshop.co.uk/onion-powder-ground-onion-powder-1813-p.asp
Never used them before so will let you know what their delivery times are like when it arrives.
