judging by the state most of my cookery books get in, theres no way i would have a kindle anywhere near my prep area

can you make notes on your kindle? lots of us on here actually write in the book! whether to use half the spices or increase liquids etc or if it needs more cooking time. tweaking the recipes to taste seems to be common on this thread! as all takeaways differ slightly, the fun is finding out HOW to get the recipes to taste the same as the local takeaways! and it IS fun! Mr McGovern gives us the basic recipes and know how - then we, as 'creative' cooks take over!
I have loved reading this thread, most of the posters can identify where the recipe differs from the local takeaway and have posted accordingly.
My own copy has more handwritten notes than all my other cookbooks put together! thats because the Takeaway Secret fired my creativity! I HAD to see if I could replicate the families favourite takeaways!0 -

Yes you can make notes on kindle but it's not a feature I've used yet. I must admit I sometimes have made notes whilst cooking but don't like writing in books, so make them on scraps of paper which frustratingly i usually then lose. I suppose keeping them in the kindle copy might be a good thing but like flea72 I do have misgivings about whether I would want my kindle in the kitchen when cooking, which is why I'm dithering about which to go for.0 -
Made the banana muffins - and they are delish! I've already eaten 3  so have frozen all but 2 now so I cann't be tempted. They were so lovely and so easy to make.
My first recipe form the book and I'm soooo impressed :T0 -

I'm loving my kindle but have only downloaded fiction or biographical type books, not tried a cookery book. After reading all the good reports of this book am sorely tempted but much as I love the kindle I'm wondering whether better to stick with paperback for this.
Thanks Snapdragon
This is something I've been pondering too, Snapdragon. Not for this book as I've bought it as a 'real' book, but there are some sewing books on there, which will have lots of photos in.
Does anyone know what these/other books with photos in will look like?0 -
This book is one of the best purchases i have ever made.
We constantly have cookie dough in the freezer ready to just pop in the oven. My OH is addicted to them!0 -

Ive made them twice and they were gorgeous, the key is to not over mix, literally just mix the wet ingredients with the dry a little bit, a few light stirs.
Muffin mix doesn't do well with over stirring. Mine were light, fluffy, airy and not too brown on top, just a little brown in colour.
Many thanks for the advice, sorry for not replying earlier, have been on the late shifts at wok. That would explain it,it said mash well, which I did with vigour, then when combining the wet ingredients with the dry,mix well,so I got the electric mixer out and spun the whole lot together for a few minutes.I will give em another shot this week with out the mixer-many thanks for your advice:T0 -
I just stirred my wet and dry mixes together with a fork til they were just combined - worked a treat0
