I bought the book about two weeks ago, having seen about it here.
I've done the lamb doner - was fab. So fab that Other Half asked me to make some up in shish kebab shapes and freeze them so he could have kebabs at random times.
We've used the Southern Fried Chicken. I made up a jar of the flour mix, to have some to hand for other times, and we coated strips of chicken and shallow fried them. After we had had some, we tweaked the flour mix a bit, adding more garlic and onion powder. It's perhaps not quite KFC, but it's very very close, and better than that it doesn't have celery salt, which many shop bought ones do.

Other Half remembered he had owned The Curry Secret many years ago, but the friend he loaned it to never gave it back. So a new copy arrived for him yesterday. He's chuffed to bits.

We don't own a deep fat frier, so we'll modify recipes from The Takeaway Secret. In terms of value, once you've made a couple of meals it will have paid for itself, but don't expect a fancy glossy book. It's a little paperback, printed on cheap paper. I love the fact that it is a cheap book in itself. It goes with the whole iddea of saving money.

Thanks, I was thinking to buy this, but the 'no photos' has rather put me off.
I like to see what it should look like lol. (as I'm rather crap at cooking lol)

I think the reasoning is that you'd be cooking your takeaway favourites, so you know what it looks like already.
Go on- get it out of the library if you don't want to buy it yet...!

Thanks, just ordered two copies as I know my brother will pinch mine otherwise (not that I mind) really looking forward to it being delivered, I agree would be nice to see peoples pics and how they tweak the recipes, look forward to more posts.
