Tesco plastic bags - Vent!

Options
Just done my weekly shop in Tesco, whilst packing at the checkout had 2 bags break just picking them up to put in the trolley. Checkout guy was apologetic, joked that as they were fasing them out, they were probably making them cheaper.
Got home and had 3 more break on lifting them from the car!
My food rolled onto the road, the pavement, there's still some underneath as I can't reach it, will wait for OH to get back.
I am 39 weeks pregnant, due next Monday, to try and pick up food from the floor is near impossible.
I have never 'overpacked' a bag, and even more so now as I know if I make it too heavy I can't carry it being pregnant.
Was just so furious nearly screamed in the street. It was boiling hot, walking back and forward from the car to the front door my stupid stupid dog was making a racket as he can't be left ever as he's got 'anxiety issues' and people were stepping over me on the pavement to carry on up the road.

Just so hot and bothered now Ive had to sit down to 20 minutes to get my blood pressure and breathing back to normal, so no doubt half my food is defrosted.

Have sent off an email to Tesco telling them this, and I don't know what Im expecting back, but I finished by saying I hope I receive a satistfactory response or Ill start shopping elsewhere!

Normally OH is home, and I pack all the shopping into 2 big ikea bags, but couldn't do this today as he's at work. He made me start doing this as when I take my bags to reuse, they always break. I told someone in Tesco once, and they said I should buy bags for life. More expenses! But these flaming bags today were brand new, which is even worse!

VENT OVER!
LBM January 2017 £34k will have paid back finally by my DFD May 2021
got my first store card on my 18th birthday, never known a life without the grey cloud of debt looming over me. 18yrs and the end is finally in sight 🤩

If I was you I would go back to Tesco and DEMAND a refund for those faulty bags...

you mean that the free bags at the check-out broke?

Bags for Life are an expense but they aren't in the long run. I personally can't stand the freebie supermarket ones and take my own bags made from hessian. They only cost a few quid but I have had them for years. Much better than the huge IKEA bags, which can hurt your back if you pack too much shopping in them.

How many billions do Tesco make per year?

I very much doubt that you're going to scare them into action with threats like this...

It's true. Threats should never form part of a complaint. State the facts calmly, say how you've been financially affected and let them know what you want to happen next. No one responds well to threats, and why would they?

I have bags for life in my car boot, so I just load my trolly with the shopping and take it to my car. Unpack at my car and it also means I can put things into a cool box and glass jars into a plastic box I have.
Makes it easy to unpack as nothing it heavy or over filled and means I don't have to spend extra time at the store packing up..Win Win

I would think that as the bags are given free you have no right to complain but I could be wrong.

You're imminent on giving birth, yet your still driving and still carrying bags of shopping around and getting all stressed about Tesco bags breaking.

Maybe I'm completely wrong, but what the hell are you doing, you shouldn't still be having to go to Tesco to get 5 bags worth of shopping.

Get your feet up and get the OH to do the shopping.

I was offered a bag for life in Tesco the other day, I had to refuse as I couldn't make such a commitment in such a short space of time. What if the bags in future are far superior to the bags on offer now? I'd feel awful owning some shoddy out dated technology. Plastic for me please :rotfl:

LOL, that reminds me about a line in a film once, someone asked the guy "have you lived here all your life", his reply "not yet". Such a silly line, but made me laugh.
