Tesco plastic bags - Vent!

I have had this happen with both tesco and asda free bags and I agree that they are hopeless for putting more than one bottle of pop in. My fav re-usables are the hessian type ones from Tesco, I don't find the other supermarkets equivalents as big, followed in 2nd place by Tescos blue bags the same style and size of the hessian ones. I find 3 or 4 of these enough for a weekly shop for our family of 2 adults, 2 kids.0

I'm 25 and I own a shopping trolley, and I know I'm not the only one
.
They're pretty good for hauling gear at festivals. That's all I've ever used mine for, except the day I bought it when I thought it senseless to carry around a load of bags AND an empty shopping trolley. Came in handy as I bought so much stuff there was no way I would have been able to carry it all otherwise, but that didn't stop me being very embarrassed when the bloke selling me it clearly thought I was buying it because I could not carry the three tiny pathetic bags I had at that point!0 -
I do not understand what all the Fuss is about bags?
Who needs them?
Bulky stuff like wine and lager do not fit in a bag and are too heavy anyway. You just leave it all in the supermarket trolley and take it back to the ULTIMATE BEHEMOTH (4x4, 5.7 Litre, 9 seats) that you conveniently parked in the disabled bay, right by the front of the store so that you do not have far to push the trolley.
Chuck the 48 pack of lager and 12 bottles of wine (to get the 5% discount) into the back of the beast, leave the supermarket trolley behind the car and drive home, park across the neighbours driveway and unload.
Simples!I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0 -
Do you lot not read the bags?
They are even more bio-degradable and have an expiry date. I had one, left it in my car, one day (hot though) the bag had literally fallen to pieces.
AHA I didn't know they had a date on them! That explains why I found a bundle of shredded tesco bags in my glove boxI thought I had a mouse :rotfl:

Well let me think....Tesco....Clubcard....own bags....extra points.
I think that about sums it up. As for bags for life being an expense, 10p and when the bag breaks you get a new one. If only everything I paid 10p for lasted forever. For myself I am an optimist - there does not seem to be much use being anything else.

And, of course, when the day comes when the hessian bag has to be disposed of it's completely biodegradable. It can even be put into your compost heap. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

I'm amazed people are still using plastic carrier bags. They're one of the biggest contributors to land-fill, take millennia to degrade and are completely unnecessary. It seems bizarre to read posts where people complain about the quality of supermarket bags when the alternatives will totally solve the problem and are easily available! It's like walking past the most comfortable pair of shoes that are right by your front door, and then complaining the pavements hurt your bare feet!"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

I've been tempted to get a trolley for ages; does anyone know of anywhere cheaper than the Lakeland ones? Don't want tartan, just plain or non-embarrassing print...0

You do realise that's completely untrue, don't you?
Even the most ardent eco-loons only claim the amount of space in landfills taken by all plastics is between 25 and 30 percent. Platic shopping carriers are relatively insignificant as a proportion oif that total.0
