Sigh..well so much for an extra hour in bed.
The pain in my hips has driven me out of bed once again. I just can't get comfortable
Is anyone else having nightmares at the moment? I keep having horrible ones that the baby has died

Morning Ladies,
hope everyone's ok this morning
been lurking for a couple of weeks so thought i'd say hello now!
13 weeks pregnant, and I've been diagnosed with gestational diabetes and was wondering if anyone else has it and if they control it ok with diet?
At the minute i have to test my blood about 8 times a day and back to see consultant in a fortnight... as an older (37) first time expectant mom i got a bit upset last week after seeing 2 consultants, diabetic nurse and dietician and getting told likelihoood is to be started off early, possible c section as baby's tend to be bigger and lazier! trying not to stress about it but wondered if anyone else had gd?0 -
Due date Fuzz. How exciting!
Have been thinking about Pawpurrs. Hope she's doing OK.
I forgot the hour went back and have been up from 7.15am. It's Sunday morning and we've no kids (yet) so that seems a bit wrong.
I was wondering if any of those who have other children think that first babies usually come late/ on time/ early. I googled it and one page said that first babies are on average 8 days late .
I know everyone is different, but does this sound about right?0 -
morning everyone,a much more reasonible hour, I got really tired and went back to bed just as the kids woke up so kicked OH out of bed to deal with them lol. He woke me up hoovering so I might do it more often lol.
I had it with both my last two pregnancies and this time was diagnosed at 33 weeks so a bit late. With my first (DD) I was diagnosed after having sugar in my urine at my 28 week check up with the midwife, she was taking bloods so took and extra random one for sugar and it came back 15 so I didn't need a GTT, it was christmas eve and I was put straight on insulin at the hospital, it all seemed a bit rushed and there was no one really around to explain more than just how to use the equipment. With DS it was picked up by the routine GTT at 28 weeks and they put me straight on the insulin again. This time they want to see what my blood sugars are like so I've been given a prescription for insulin so I can get it if I need it but so far just measuring the blood sugar levels.Morning Ladies,
hope everyone's ok this morning

I found it really difficult to control with DD even on the insulin and it is something that tends to get worse and worse so insulin was upped every week. DS was similar. This time I haven't had the high readings I had with them, my problem time is it is nearly always 6 in the morning pre-breaskfast and high after breakfast but then the rest of the day is ok. I want to avoid the insulin this time if possible, I've only got just over a week left.
Re the births, if your blood sugars are in control and baby isn't too big it is possible they will let you go longer, I know some that have given birth naturally with gestational diabetes. I think most don't though and the hospital like to prepare you for the worst. I had an elective c-section with DD at 37 weeks because I didn't think an induction would be successful and wanted to avoid emergency c-section, she was 9lb 5, DS was born at 38 weeks by c-section and weighed 8lb7. I'm having this one at 36 weeks, c-section booked already but I think that is because I also have polyhydramnios (excess amniotic fluid) which has probably been caused by the diabetes. The c-sections have not been that bad and DD and DS are thriving 4 and 5 years on, at the end of the day I'd love to have given birth naturally but its not that important just that they get here safely.0 -
Fuzz............happy due date honey

thanks merfe,
guess i'm just a bit bewildered by it all at the minute, my higher than recommended readings are pre breakfast, like you almost 6 and after my evening meal high 7's and 8's - the rest of the day they are within the guidelines.
i've cut out sweets and am limiting yogurts, and am been careful with fruit, only 1 piece, normally i'd have 2 pieces with lunch trying to get my five a day! no fruit salads or smoothies which i love and had been having for brekkie
only been checking for a few days so will see if i can get them down further this week before i go back to consultant on the 9th nov 0 -

Happy due date Fuzz, Ladylegs and Big Bird - can't believe none of us have popped yet!!! Oh no that means we must all be in bold now. :eek:Doesn't seem that long ago we were all at the bottom of a very long list!
Well I went to a halloween party about an hour away down all these country lanes last night and we all got completely lost and none of us had any signal. We did all joke that it would be just my luck to go into labour there and then!! Then at the party I had a trickle down my legs and wasn't sure if my waters had gone?! Don't think they did, still not sure really?!
Not long now anyway.......:j Tried fresh pineapple, RLTea and even DTD.......nothing!!0
