I dont think if its the real deal that it does either but sweeps can make you think its the real thing although the pains are milder than real contractions and they never go anywhere ,having a bath seems to stop it.
god I can so still remember those labour pains from last year. Im dreading this time as no5 was a killer - all the lads were a breeze but my girl ..ouch!
And..Ive never topped or tailed a baby in my life ! never seen the point when you can just stick them in the bath with you0 -
Im annoyed with myself today. I want matching cotbeds for the 2 little ones , Im looking at the second one which is made by M&P and Im sure its gone up another £100 recently. How can they jusifiy that ?? Its £635 now whats it made out of gold??!!
Kitkat how far do they let you go over at your hospital?0 -
I am pleased with myself and a bit poop too. firstly as daft MW couldn't get blood from me I went to the phlebotomy clinic in Ninewells to get booking bloods down. They wouldn't do them because it was a MW at my GP surgery that wanted them done and not the antenatal clinic in Ninewells. They called my GP surgery who said oh send her down which is a bit dumb because the nurse at my surgery cannot draw blood from me, it needs t be done with a syring and a fine needle usually used for pre teen children so off i go to the GP surgery nurse there says why you here we have no chance i said well yup i know so she has a look says there is 2 possible veins but she thinks its the ones that collapse when punctured but should she have i go, i said yes and she did both times was a fail as was expected so she has put on the computer system thing that I have to go to the blood clinic at Ninewells for bloods all the time as they just cannot get it with the usual needle and bottle clip thing. She called antenatal clinic and they said just to go up to Phlebotomy when the tripple test bloods due and get them all done at once and let arm heal for about 10 days as they are in no rush for blood typing etc.
Good news is I went to mothercare looking for a maternity tankini, we are off on holiday for a few days soon and my tankini is too small, it isn't comfy and my gut flops over and the top rolls up. I looked on the website and there was a few at £25 which i thought was reasonable value as i'm starting aquanatal soon and will get maybe 15 - 20 sessions out of it. They had a nice black and white one in my size with pink edging, only one left I thought that seemed a bit brighter than the other and the ticket said it was £10 in the sale so I thought result but when i got to check out it was £5 as all marked sale items were another 50% off. I wish I had looked more at the clothes but I had browsed for ages and was getting that hot and dizzy way so I was just at peace with my £5 tankini but now I am thinking of going back tomorrow for a look.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000 -
Suzy - both my girls were a breeze really even though DD2 was an induction, I can remember sweeps with both, dd1 it did nothing dd2 I got weird pains that stopped if i hula hooped bizzarly then 3 days later it was induction time and i was 4cms already I can only guess the sweep did a bit then stopped both my kids were back to back and the MW with the 2nd said i wasn't in labour as the computer said i wasn't. It took a crownign head to convince her i was in labour. Idiot. Thankfully she is in the midwife led bit now so she will not be any where near me this time.
I dread having an akward boy.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000 -
Midwifes hey! Some of them just make you laugh. They havent got a clue. With my first the "girl" that assisted me had a ma hooosive ring on which I didnt see but I felt. I was so grazed with it. You really have to stand up for yourself when your in labour don't you . (or have a assertive partner )0

Suzy I'm booked in for a sweep Sunday and they let me go upto 2 weeks over due then referred to main hosp to be induced
wish they wernt allowing me to go 2 weeks over as baby is measuring big so is guna be huge by the time it comes.
Have had on and off pains and currently having a sharp pain down low but I'm not getting optimistic, it'll only ease like it has for past 4 weeks!0 -
You do. I am a bit gobby and I just kept saying I need to push and it was oh no its just the 'baby moving down' your not in established labout yet i'll just hang some sytocin to get you contracting and eventually and older woman came in afetr OH went to fnd someone decent and she said we have broke your waters so I don't want to check you too often bacause of infection risk but i'll have a look and she could see the head so it was all hands to the pump as they were dropping end of bed away and pulling on disposable aprons. Sundays a good day as they should have sent everyone home for the weekend - You'll be in and out if thats what you want. Our hospital doesnt normally induce on a sunday but did it for me as a favour for my MW. I went 14 days over but they normally only let you go 12.
If your worried re the size ask for a induction before that date, just ask a "nice" mw who you get one with. I dont think a few days will make much difference to the size though tbh.
I was told that our baby was big she was 6lb 7oz 14 days OD so take what they say with a pinch of salt and dont let it worry you.
Edit sorry just re read your having a sweep not a induction sunday - I hope it works for you.0
