Meant to ask, can anyone tell me how much bigger than normal to buy nursing bras? I was planning on going up to Bravissimo in London but no way I can make it up there so will have to manage with online. I guess I could just get a couple to see me through til I can get up there afterwards. Think I'm currently in a 34/36FF Royce soft cup which I need a bra extender for or it won't go near me!

Rach as I understand it, if your band size has increased during pregnancy this will shrink down again as your rib cage contracts, but your cup size will increase due to the milk. Why don't you email Bravissimo to see what they recommend or if you have any old fashioned ladies lingerie shop nearby go and get measured/advice from them, they're often much better experienced that the big chain stores.

Rach I've never done that, the t shirt bras from Tesco a size up has always done :rotfl:

  • I found the mothercare sleep bras really good in the early days, no need to worry about a size, or keeping ginormous norks in too small cups, but still had the nursing clip to drop the cup... Once my milk had settled down I went into proper nursing bras...

Evening all. Not working tonight and had yesterday off too using up some holiday and I feel so much better for it, not tired and not in so much pain it hurts to walk. OH has had the wii fit out though and I tried a bit of the stepping and I was ok except for the ones that go sideways, couldn't do those it hurt.

With nct sales sometimes its best to go early but there is normally loads left as well. As for OH being funny if you had a second child they would normally have hand me downs so what's wrong with the first having 2nd hand as well. All of mine have had some 2nd hand and some new bits too.

My vertbaudet order came today, dd was really impressed with her new sheet, she's easily pleased lol. Also had some socks for the baby that are so cute.

Thanks, I will look into the mothercare bras, I've looked around and there doesn't seem to be an independent lingerie shop around here, pain really. I do like bravissimo and have always found them excellent, just can't face going up there!

DH is home, didn't even say hello just 'I'm going to bed'. great. Hope he improves he has an interview this week though not sure what day.

Latest panic is as to whether the car seat we've been lent is good enough. It's a mothercare one but having seen some of the maxi cos etc ones today at the baby cafe I'm a bit unsure. Hmmm. Maybe if I can make it to mothercare to get bras I can have a look at carseats too. Having said that I doubt the lady at work who does road safety for the whole borough would've lent me a dudd one and she did say that Britax make mothercare ones!

  • Rach, I would stick with the baby carrier you're borrowing. For the amount of time they're in them it's not worth forking out a fortune... Britax are a good make, they come out well in all the testing :)

Have a look at this site, they are based in Cardiff and will do home visits if you're nearby otherwise she advises over the phone, although the site is really useful. She is also working towards a diploma in breastfeeding through the NCT. A lovely women. She sorted bras out for me a week or so ago, I went from wearing a 40D (which I knew was a bit big) to a 36FF and actually fits beautifully and makes me look a better shape, no back ache either.
  • I can't drink milk at the mo. It doesn't even got to my tummy :(

Did discover custard again last night. Could eat/drink it by the gallon right now. Yummy :D

Boss had just given me a cot. It looks as good as new. Yet another reminder that everything's speeding by. Eeeeep.

Anyone been to a NCT sale? Any tips? Should I get there early and pay the entry fee, or go at the end when its free entry? Is it fixed prices or can you haggle?

There's one coming up near me in a couple of weeks, so got till then to convince OH that its ok for baby to have second hand. I've had to hide the bits I've got off freecycle he went crazy when he saw the pram.

Quite frankly I think beggars can't be choosers, I have no work at the mo and he's about to be made redundant.
Why did your OH go crazy?

We're going to an NCT sale this Saturday. I was asking similar questions a while ago. Ours costs £1 to get in, nothing about going later for free. On babyandbump there was a post about it and it seems mixed reviews. One girl got loads of stuff for £25, another said they thought their sale was overpriced, another said it was so busy you couldn't get to the tables. So I guess it's hit and miss like carboots in a way. Except it's all baby stuff :D

I'll let you know what ours is like. I'm going to be looking out for cotbeds and some clothes. And maybe another baby bouncer to have stored at the parents house. And maybe a monitor. And anything winnie the pooh :D

Emsy - thanks for the vet nursing info. I've got a lot to think about. I realise working with animals is never going to be 9-5 but I'm thinking maybe this isn't the best time in my life to be making such a dramatic career change (in terms of pay and hours). Don't know what to do as I'm just not happy in my job.

Right, Lost arrived today :D so going to try and watch the whole season before the end of Sunday! Then I can flog it on ebay and hopefully not lose too much money.
