Oh wow...excellent. My main question at the moment is the pay. It says on websites you get £3k - £7k depending on whether accomodation is included (I don't need accom). But tinks OH says it's national minimum wage which for my calculations would be somewhere just over £10k a year. Not sure if we could live on that for 2 years. I currently earn £25k, so it's quite a drop... I'm thinking a salary of £15k is doable, but according to the websites that's the sort of salary you get after being qualified a few years.
Did you give up vet nursing then? Why? (hope you don't mind me being nosey).
RiiiiiiiiiightInfo overload time, brace yaself :rotfl:
When I was a trainee VN, (this was 12 years ago) I brought home approx £400-500 pcm. Inc in this WAS accommodation, but we had no choice, it was not like we could get increased pay if we didn't need it. and I was 17 so loved it and left home
There is no way on this planet, to the best of my knowledge (I still have VN friends) that a trainee would be on anywhere near £15K.
Additionally, things may have changed, but all trainees (and in fact most VN1s + some VN2's) HAD to do out of hours duties. I still remember the shift pattern......
Week 1:
Mon 8-5.30 (1 hr lunch)
Tue 8-5.30 (1 hr lunch)
Wed 8-5.30 (1 hr lunch)
Thur 8-1, lunch 1-4, then duty from 4pm-noon Friday, then a 4.30 finish
Week 2:
Mon 8-5.30 (1 hr lunch)
Tue 8-5.30 (1 hr lunch)
Wed 8-5.30 (1 hr lunch)
Thur 8-5.30 (1 hr lunch)
Fri - 8-1, lunch 1-4, then duty STRAIGHT THROUGH TIL MONDAY LUNCH!!!
:eek::eek::eek:
In a month I got 3 of the week 1 pattern (with a different night duty) and 1 of the week 2 pattern. I would then get one weekday off a month to make up for the worked weekend.
Some weekends, I would literally catch maybe 6/7 hours sleep total from Friday lunchtime to Monday lunchtime.
All said and done, I did love the job. But the money and the hours were carp.
Sorry for waffling, I get excited when someone asks about something I know about :rotfl::rotfl: and apologies to all who are not actually that interested in vet nursing0 -

Having an achey day today:( Belly is very achey and I swear bubs is pinching my insides...getting some odd feelings going on in there!!
Hello stranger.I don't blame your sister for being peed off although don't count your chickens just yet. My sis-in-law had a really fast growth spurt at 36 weeks and got a few snail trails for the pleasure. (but I reckon you'll get lucky)
Is bubs still touring your womb? The midwife at "Parentcraft" class said to sit straddling a normal chair so legs apart and bend forwards in order to help baby engage as this position enables the pelvic tail to go back and along with gravity, sometimes helps baby to engage head down. I don't know if I made sense but worth a try if you are getting elbows and knees jabbing you from all angles.
Nice Pic, Lauren. Very neat bump.0 -
Cherydee - sorry about your daughter. Hope she gets it sorted. I've been getting some pains in my pelvis area. I've noticed it's worse after a day at work (sitting down all day). It was quite painful Friday, but then it got better over the weekend (was more up and about and walking).
Thanks gizmodo, it came on worse on Friday night while she was out for a meal for a friends birthday, so had to cut the night short. She's planning on doing her ironing sitting down today while waiting in for her shopping to be delivered from Asda0 -

It does make sense..just;), but seeing as I decided to wear a dress today with no tights and an office full of blokes I don't think I'll be giving it a go just yet..well not unless they asked nicely:rotfl::rotfl:

Lauren. In a word. GRRRRRRRRR!!
:rotfl::rotfl: I'm just jealous0 -
Hi all. Nice to see you posting LL, keep it up
Loving the dinky bump, Lauren. You must have amazing stomach muscles if this is number 3 at 18 weeks!
I currently have a kitchen full of freshly washed nappiesTold DH he'd better get used to that sight! It's actually dry here today, if a bit overcast, so they could go outside but I want to see how long it'll take to dry them indoors as we're currently wondering if we need a tumble dryer (and if we can afford one!)
Baby stuff is now in the baby's room, which is all painted and lovelyWe went out yesterday to get the chest of drawers we wanted, only to find they are out of stock and not expected in for 6-8 weeks  That's no good, the baby will be here by then! Kicking myself now that we didn't just get one when we saw them a few weeks ago and store it in the garage til the room was ready. Now we have to find something else to go with the other furniture.
But on the plus side, we had a message yesterday to say our travel system is ready for collection, so we can go and pick that up at the weekend :T I can't wait to have a play with itWill be interesting to see if we can fit it in the Mini's boot.
Had the health visitor around this morning for a meet n greet. She seems very nice.
No stretch marks here eitherYet...
Sorry for the epic post. I'll go back to lurking instead of wittering now:o

Still team yellow but MW assuming it to be a girl so maybe a pink question mark?
Hello again BB, fellow lurkee:D What nappies did you go for in the end?...I'm still researching the options and might get a mixed trial pack from Fill Your Pants but at £65 it's a gamble.
Also, did you organise the Health visitor coming around yourself or did you get referred from the midwife?
Hope you don't mind me being a nosy mare:D...you seem pretty organised (gulp)0 -
Wow Lauren...i'm v jealous of your dinky little bump, i'm 15 weeks today amd my bump is so much bigger. I don't get to tell people we're expecting as they can see it for themselves, i use the fact its baby number 4 as an excuse, but thats a load of rubbish after seeing your bump pic
Really hoping courgette has had her baby (fingers crossed).
My work mate gave birth yesterday to a little girl, so can't wait to see pics.:)Henry James Born 18/03/2011-11 days late!:)

LL, we've got Mother-ease birth to potty nappies with Mother-ease airflow wraps. Mainly because a work colleague of DH's gave us a full set for nothing! :T They seem to be a popular choice, so hopefully they'll work out OK for us. Do your local council offer any incentives? Mine do a trial pack for about £25, which is then refundable if you order nappies from their supplier. I'd have done that if we hadn't had this lot given to us.
As for the HV, I just got a letter in the post a couple of weeks ago saying she wanted to come round today and for me to contact the GP surgery if it wasn't convenient. So not sure who did the referral. Possibly the midwife, as she did say that the midwife would let her know when Flump arrives to they can sort out when the HV takes over from MW.You can do anything, make anything, dream anything.
