Has anyone been prescribed antibiotics in Pregnancy?

Just spoke to my GP and she wants me to take a course of penicillin for this cold/infection I have.

I thought you weren't really meant to take antibio's when preggo...??

Obviously she's a doctor, but I'm still a bit wary....

Hi everyone, hope it goes well today for smartie. Sending labour vibes to courgette. Congrats EA. Im in pain, bottom of my tummy really hurts like bad period pains, started to get them last night and they have come back this morning, plus didn't get much sleep. Not impressed with my niece as went to my dads yesterday to give him his birthday present and she smacked me in the stomach and been getting pains since then. She is nearly five and she is always hitting her little sister and i have seen her hitting her mum too, her parents don't seem to do much about it. When she is at our house and she hit me last week too, i told her off and explained that smacking people was not nice, i do this when she hits her little sister too. When we took them home the last week niece was hitting her mum and thought it was funny and then her little sister was copying her, eventually their mum told them to stop it but it was little sister that got in to more trouble. Oldest niece just seems to get away with so much when she is at home, which does make it more difficult when we have her at our house.

She should have a book that will say if its safe in pregnancy. I took some in pregnancy for an infection and the doctor had to read the book to me so i would accept the prescription

I just thought they were a no no. Still if they work, are safe and I get better, then so be it!

I've had loads this pregnancy - I had IV antibiotics when I was in hospital with appendicitis and then when they discharged me they game me tablet ones.
The dr prescribed me some last week as I have Group B Strep and then when in labour I will have IV antibiotics.
They use the BNF book to check which ones are safe in pregnancy. I have a copy of the book from a course I was on recently and always double check lol.

Hey everyone- hope all is well. My dad brought down my cot from when i was baby (nearly25 years old) so last night i cleaned it with hot water and washing up liquid! Once the cloth hit the wood it was shining... so i need to measure the base to find a mattress to fit. I really hope once its up with bedding etc on it, it really looks the part! My pram was ex-display and only cost £100, free cot and i managed to find a rocking car in an auction for £23.

More money has been spent on nappies, play mats, babygrows and bits and pieces.

Im waiting on my landlord getting back to me about moving a single bed from the babys room-then once thats done i can start painting the room. Ive decided on apple mist...

I reckon i can justify paying £90 for the Love and Adored bedding from Babys r Us, as im not sure what the quality would be like from Ebay!?
