MMD: Should I let them bury the dog?

It's too late now, but they could have visited the taxidermist and had it stuffed.0

Do they realise that a dog has to be buried at least 1.5 metres deep? That's one hell of a hole! My mum recently had her dog put down and asked if I would bury it in the garden, but as we have about a foot of topsoil and the other 3 feet would be london clay I said it was out of the question, so she had it cremated instead.0

Huh? Who says?0 -
I have to say this is a very distressing thread for both (imaginary) parties!!
I have been through this, myself being the party of the dead dog, and thought it would be completely rude to ask the other property owner to bury my dog, even tho' my future property was an empty house!
However, if people don't ask they don't get. Overall though in my situation i did expect a no without even asking, so i didn't ask. Wish i had now tho'! R.I.P. Mutley x0 -
Obviously the decision is ultimately yours, If I were in your situation the answer would be no. As others have suggested the only option is to have the dog cremated and then bury/scatter the ashes when the house is theirs and they have moved in.
The sale may not go through or if it does the paperwork will take time and the idea of someone elses dead dog in my garden would creep me out.
If it means they pull out then it's their loss, there will be another buyer! Like someone else said, Great Danes are huge so they'll be digging a grave big enough for a person to fit!!! Not nice!!!Debt owed £4000, Saved (to pay back) £300, only £3,700 to go!!
My best money saving tip: Good manners cost NOTHING! So please be nice to each other! :happylove0 -
This is for the reason that it is illegal to bury pets in your garden.
It isn't illegal to bury your pets in your garden, people have been doing it for years. I have 6 of my dear cats buried in mine :A
But going back to the OP, it is a huge ask. What would happen if the sale falls through?
The best thing to say is get the pet cremated & then they could dig a hole to bury the urn when they move in.0 -
The dog has been dug up, wrapped in clingfilm and removed from the property. It was a long Saturday I can tell you.0

Let them bury the pet. Then up the asking price. They will either pay more, or ask to dig the pet up. The pet is now on your property. Ask for a few grand "digging up fee", or let them up there offer for the house.I wonder why it is, that young men are always cautioned against bad girls. Anyone can handle a bad girl. It's the good girls men should be warned against.-David Niven0

Although sad for the owner this was the funniest thing I have read all day! ...However,I do know that with horses you have to get permission from the council, a Great Dane isn't that much smaller than some horses!
It is all to do with the water course and the possible affects on the environment.
I would also explain to your neighbors that you are burying a dog and don't dig the hole at night!
Also check that it is a dog in the bag however gross it may be, check the contents!!0 -
Sadly, I would say 'No'.
All the 'what ifs' have already been laid out in detail above and I agree them.
When they have exchanged contracts they can turn the whole garden into a pet cemetary if they want but, in my opinion, until they own it they should not make any alterations to any part of the property and grounds whatsoever.0
