  • Please, please, please, get rid of the 'children under 12' bit! This is causing so much confusion and anguish! My 8-year-old son is over the height limit but came home from school last week insisting that he had to sit in a car seat - he was none too impressed about it either! He was terrified that mummy was going to be sent to prison because the police were going to be at the school checking seats!

Why can't we all forget about the age of the kids and concentrate purely on the safe height they need to be?

because if they are over 12, but under the height limit they don't need a booster because they're internal organs and stuff are considered strong enough to withstand any injuries a seat-belt may cause to someone who is under 12... if that makes sense?
  • Woolworths BIG W CHEETHAM HILL, (opp Fort retail park), Manchester had some in at lunch today - £15 I think.

But I live in a big Jewish area (with Big Jewish families!) so booster seats are in big demand round here.
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.
  • If your children fall just short of the measurements and they are used to sitting without a booster seat, why not trawl your local car boot for some bargains. All seats are made of plastic with washable covers so you should be able to pick up a bargain.
  • Managed to get 1 of these from ASDA Perry Barr Birmingham for £40, everywhere else were sold out. They were flying off the shelves and only had a few left.

The function of the boster seat is to seat the child so the seatbelt is in the correct position and safe so this product shouldn't be needed.

Even with a booster seat the seatbelt sits too close to the child's neck in a very high number of cases. I mentioned this product in my post straight after Matin's and it's good to see the little video demonstrating its worth. It's a shame however the video shows it being used without a booster. They work best when used together.
MTC NMP Membership #62 - made it back to size 12 after my children & I'm staying here!
  • I have ordered a booster seat from empire https://www.empire.co.uk - they are 12.99 and they are sayinging they will have more stock by mid october. If i get stopped by police before then i will tell them it is on order (iv printed a copy to carry in the car). this one caught me out too - i gave my car seats away a couple of years ago!!! good luck

Folks please please please dont go out and buy seats without checking they are suitable for your vehicle and the size/weight of your child , your seat could suffer from buckle crunching and would not work in a crash, booster seats wil be ok the type thats justa piece of plastic im talking about the actual large seats that are strapped into the car

'Buckle Crunch' is the most common problem. This is when the buckle of the three-point seat belt is resting against the frame of the child car seat. In a crash the buckle might break or snap causing the child car seat to come loose. With buckle crunch it maybe that the seat belt is not the correct length for the child car seat. The way to resolve this is to either have your seat belts changed or to change car seats.

Re buckle crunch-britax have on their website the facility to put in your make of car to tell you if their seats are safe. You might be surprised if you do a check. This is also useful before buying a new carseat-better to find a seat is incompatible with your car before you buy it.I have changed my sporty little number (sob) for a more practical car since the arrival of my grandaughter.
