To my mind, it is either safe for a less than 135cm 9 year old to sit without a booster or it isn't. The law is an <a s s> and the government should have been making manufacturers address the 3 boosters issue. I know someone with triplets and they spent a lot of effort finding a set of 3 seats that would work together.
IMHO, if your child's safety is important to you then you have to get out there and find 3 seats that work.
I wonder if they will enforce this law as well as they enforce the mobile phone one.:rolleyes:7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -

I think you have to recieve some sort of benefit or be on a low income. We're not on benefits but on a low income although they didn't ask for any proof. Worth contacting the town hall or your health visitor for more information.
No wonder my council tax is so high.
If you can afford a car you can afford a booster seat.0 -
I can't believe that this law even has to be in place. Surely people are concerned enough about their children that they protect them in anyway they can. It drives me nuts when I see mums driving along the motorway with their kids standing in the back of their car, they may be the safest drivers in the world, it doesn't mean that the person driving behind them is.
Why should people be told to save their kids lives?0 -

I think you answered your own question! Put it another way, it's not these kiddies faults their parents are irresponsable morons..... they obviously need the extra kick up the rear. Let's face it, these days too many people only respond when their wallets are threatened.0 -
I think that is a bit harsh. Yes there are some parents that don't seam to care but what I have been hearing in the parenting clubs it is more a case that they have stopped using the booster seat too early according to this new law.
I feel sorry for some parents of small 10 year olds that now have to sit on a booster seat when they didn't before.
I am lucky that I still had all the proper seats in my car and that my smallish (for age) 7 year old daughter is still happier sitting on her booster seat. Its better to be late in this life than early in the next one.

my almost 9 year old is 1cm off the 135cm limit infact depending on who reads the measure can be read as 135!!!
Am not putting him on a booster, I make him sit in middle seat in back it has a proper seatbelt.0 -
WELSH-DRAGON wrote:After last week's stampede in my local store, they have just advised that:
We will have more stock of the booster seats from Thursday
28th September.
So, if any of you missed out last time, check your local Netto next week as they are selling them again at £2.99

When you buy a car seat, don't forget to check that it meets the “UN ECE Regulation 44.03” standard; look for a label showing an "E" and "44.03" or ".03".
Stores often run out quick and not all have the same quantity. To save a possible wasted journey it's worth ringing customer services (0845 6000 200) first to double check there'll be stock in your store.
money savers try not to use 0845 numbers, check out the link below

The reason why the government has enforced these regulations is because it reduces child injuries, in the same way as seatbelts being compulsory.. I still hear people say ‘wearing seatbelts is dangerous…’ and giving examples of someone getting injured by seatbelts in crashes etc... I understand the arguments for and against. A child should be protected by child appropriate seats until they are at least 135 cm, my youngest is just 134 cm but I will insist she uses her seat until she reaches a height above the recommended height and when I feel comfortable that she is SAFEIt's nice to be important but it's important to be nice!
