but i now know the company that sent it so i took this directly to there shop, they told me they cant take it you will have to phone customer services which i did they asked me to post it back to them at my cost obviously i declined and told them to pick it up we arranged a time and no one turned up.

I wouldn't try any further. The halfwits in the shop should have taken responsibility for the parcel. If they are too stupid to be proactive then that's the Company's own fault for employing them. The fact that they want you to pay to return the item shows that they deserve to lose the item.

Normally people post on here asking if they can keep something that has been mis-delivered. The fact that they ask shows that they didn't try very hard at school.

In this instance you have been more than reasonable. If you feel goodwill them contact them one further time and offer a date and time to collect (at YOUR convenience). If they don't collect then keep the item aside for 6 months and then it's yours.

if you tried to return it and they refused then thats tough luck for them

if you sent it back once and never paid for it why should you need to pay again

i would just take it leave it a few weeks if nothing else heard keep it

  • I guess this happens a lot. My sister was due to have an iphone delivered a few months ago and it was delivered to the wrong number house in completely the wrong street. The network spent a while checking that the phone hadn't been used and sent out a new one. They said that they could block it but there was no point as it hadn't been used. I would leave it a few months like others have suggested. Once it's been 6 months you can legitimately say it's yours and by that point I think they would be less likely to bar the phone anyway.

many years ago i purchased something mail order to be sent to my mums address (reason being i was moving in 3 weeks and it was up to 28 days for delivery and i did not want it going to my old house) item arrived at mums before i moved and she passed it on to me... after moving a further item arrived (mum assumed that the order had only been part received and as she was coming into town that day dropped it into work for me) i was working elsewhere that day so was confused to receive the parcel the next day. i had my order already and this was nothing i had ordered... after ringing the company it turned out the parcel was for a few doors up from my mum and the computer had defaulted to my details as the neighbour had the same postcode as my order!!! i told the company it was a nieghbour of my parents and i would see to delivary at the weekend (they seemed happy with this) i had to get my mum to pop up the road and explain what had happened and that i would drop the parcel off at the weekend when i was round. i dropped the parcel off on sunday as arranged.. on monday my mum saw the lady and her husband at the local shops - they were on their way to the post office to return the duplicate delivery they had recieved that morning from the company.

It helps to keep two lists in life. You might want to make your own names for them, but broadly speaking they can be called: "List of things that are my problem" and "List of things that are not my problem".

Were the OP to keep such a pair of lists, which one do you think this little dilemma should be kept on?

I meant that if you take it and leave iin the store without them accepting, the store could lose it and you could still be accused of having the goods.

Still on the list of things that are the store's problem, not the OP's tho, isn't it?

It becomes the OP's problem if the store denies receiving it.
