OMGosh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have just checked my bank account and I have been given DLA for at least 1 of the small pinks... I don't know which one as it just has the NI number and I don't know which it is for.. but WOOHOO!!!!! Such a HUGE weight off my mind.. The £500 back payment will pay for a few nice things for them .. and several useful bits for them too.. I may splash out and get them a pair of trainers each and have the raise put on Moomins! and we can have the step for the bath and toilet.. and the cutlery they found easier to use.. and the seat wedge.. All the stuff OT USED to provide!.. and hopefully save up for a new car we will almost all fit in!! :p and new beds for them.. and I may be totally extravagant and get them some spare insoles! lol.. what a difference it will make for the girls!! Wonder if we will get it for the other one then.. their problems are very similar, except one has cerebral palsy and one leg is shorter than the other.. but their walking ability is about the same. I am glad I spent the extra time filling out their forms.. might go for the family fund grant now..

Christmas always sorts itself.. but it should help a fair bit!! As well as the extra money for Freja which she won't need for a bit.. looks like my £2000 debt might be paid off rather sooner than anticipated :D

Ordered DD1 a phone upgrade.. should keep her happy (plus it has a free laptop she can have for christmas :money:) That is her and DS2 sorted.. :D.. 2 down.. 7 to go... and Jacob and Tabitha..

  • Thanks to all of you for your messages and pm's it really is lovely of you all to think of us especially as I know I haven't been on here long it really has meant a lot to have had the messages of support so a big thankyou from the bottom of my heart.:D

I have spoken to mum and her partner today and they managed to go out for lunch and take some time out of the house to try and forget things for a few hours it sounds like it has done them both the world of good as they both sounded a lot more positive.

Pigpen that is great news about the DLA I got a letter about 4 days after I had received the payment but dont forget to inform child tax credits you are receiving it you will need to tell them what date you were awarded it from as they will have to add the disability element to your tax credits and they will also back pay this from the date you were awarded DLA I got about an extra £40.00 from them for DS and that helps a lot to.

Well done on getting the DLA Pigpen. I've got a tribunal to attend for DS1 on the 29th Sept. Up to about 39 weeks now.
You can also apply to local council for a free bus pass if you get middle rate care and a CEA cinema card which means you can get into the cinema for free (just pay for child).

Good news about the DLA piggers.

Still plodding along at the caravan - we've had a nice few days but it's raining today so I'm not sure what we'll be doing.

    Have a good day all

    Thats great news Pigpen!!

I hate the benefits system - all of it, I love to hear when they finally get their fingers out and pay people AND its even better when its a back payment!!!!!

When I was made redundant last summer, I claimed for HB and CTB for the last week of July, the whole of August and then I started working again on the 1st September. They wrote to me a couple of months ago saying I had been overpaid by more than £1000! I didnt even receive more than £1000 in the first place, never mind an overpayment, but can you explain this to them???? Nooooooo, cos some wee jobsworth is sitting looking at a computer screen they dont understand thinking they know it all! They sent me court summons and everything, when they were supposed to be working on it.

I had to send them everything, my employment contracts, payslips for the past year, my bank statements for a year, my tenancy agreement, all my chilcare costs for the past year, my tax credits awards for 2009 and 2010.....everything.

Eventually they came back and wouldnt admit they were wrong, but said that I had been entitled to a different amount of payments for diffenent weeks, and received a back-payment for.....wait for it....... £1000!!! But instead of using it to clear the overpayment the claimed I was owe, they paid it to me.....

The 'arrears' are on an interest-free repayment plan, so I used their money to clear off some of my credit cards :D
