And, as usual, the police don't want to know.

That is so similar to the case Norman Baker MP quoted in February:

Shocking daylight robbery. Hope the ban is immediate.

scumbags, really clamping must be made illegal now!
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Just watched news item on the One Show. They are reporting that clamping and towing on private land across the board will become illegal. Various clamping firms interviewed said that they would take it further. Seemed pretty clear to me.

The only downside I can see is that the Daily Mail (which admittedly have been calling for a ban) will try and claim it's all down to them. I can see the three-inch high headlines now:-

    The Mail Wins Another Victory

Probably like that clamper who tried to take a restaurant owner to court for loss of earnings. This was because the guy had put up a notice in his window warning motorists not to park on an adjacent piece of land. Of course the judge threw the case out of court.

Just been confirmed on the BBC News, a complete ban on clamping on private land (except if at the behest of a Council, as I understand it, i.e. only firms acting for a Council).

Best news we've had on here in years!

But it will take until the New Year to get the law in place so we'll be seeing 6 months of all sorts of extra scamming attempts I bet to clamp 'moving' vehicles of peeps doing 3 point turns, people enticed to park...etc. Release and tow fees of a grand will be common I expect, all sorts of last-gasp criminality will be reported.

Just think of all the VAT and tax the government will be losing. Oh Sorry, I forgot, they don't pay tax and some even have put Barclays banks vat number on their paperwork.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
