Private Clamping To Be Outlawed?
Comments
-
Without going into too much detail, as this will be announced on Tuesday the 2 lines in the Mirror are the key to this.
Licenses to operate on private land will be given by the Local Authority and this is part of the new stricter guidelines that will be in place to monitor and control clampers/signage and training.
The story is to get rid of rogue clampers, not all clamping and towing away but that would not be such a good headline.0 -
Rogur clampers. Ha ha. As if there can be a legitimate clamper. This is one "industry" where being a rogue is compulsory.
Less of a Legaladvisor and more of a Mugger methinks.
Anyway let's wait and see. Either way this is bad news for shaven headed thick-as-planks parasites.0 -

Same thing. Private wheel clampers = rogue clampers, show me a firm which is not.:p
BTW, is your name on the list of attendees at the bottom of the most recent 'vehicle immobilisers' meeting notes? If so, you've had your 15 minutes of fame and it's now over:

Apart from some nice new names for us all to add to our Christmas card lists this year (and useful info as to whom victims can personally serve an injunction on if clamping does continue in some form!), two other things I thought were interesting:
1. The lack of anything discussed at all, except a lame attempt to try to get the consumer to stump up 50% of the cost of any independent appeals adjudication scheme!
2. The fact that the BPA was notable by its absence. They were at the last meeting:

What a waste of time those meetings were - but at least they won't be able to hold any more if clamping is indeed banned.

Norman Baker is rabidly anti-clamper. This suddenly has a ring of truth to it.
He is indeed! Never thought I'd be applauding him for anything but hey ho, he can't be all bad:

I like this little gem from the 2009 SIA meeting:-
There is a problem with the SIA licence having the operative’s name on show. By showing the name of the operative members of the public might be able to find out who your family are and find out your address. It is important to understand the threats to vehicle immobilisers and companies, as they can be personally threatened and intimidated.
Ah, didums! It's your choice if you want to work for such an unscrupulous industry. No talk of the threats and intimidation suffer red by motorists at the hands of clamping companies. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
Listening to 5live this morning, BPA seem to accept the ban (if I heard correctly) but want legislation to get RK to divulge drivers name. whilst it won't make much difference to most invoices may it not be wise not to shout too loudly less this comes to pass.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Obviously BPA would prefer that route as the ticketing issue is far more of a cash cow than clamping.
(Probably bearing in mind there is a large proportion of the public believe it carries some legitimacy)
Obviously the BPA are realising that their members are losing the battle as more and more people are not paying up their members invoices.0 -
i hope its true..
as for legislation to divulge drivers details to a private company i dont think so.. lolSealed pot challenger # 10

Rude? No
An astute observation!0 -
Total ban now confirmed on The One Show.
Enjoy it while you can, clamping vermin. Clearly Legalised Mugger was talking out his (no doubt very sizeable) backside.
Rejoice, rejoice!!0
