I like my Halifax account! I put my compo cheque in there and they were really nice and helpful - telephone banking especially, in fact if it werent for the carppy Electron card I would move there permanently!

Has to be Lloyds and Cahoot with a spluttering of Nationwide. Tesco stick to selling sticky buns.

Hm, if we're not just thinking straight current accounts....

I respect the work of Charity Bank and my local credit union.

I appreciate the business model of the Co-op, and actually use them for much day-to-day activity now.

    NS&I shouldn't be sneezed at.

And our family have historically used Natwest, so I have some stuff with them. When this were all fields, the local branch used to be sweet...

I use the Co-Op for my student account, and I've also got a 1 year fixed term deposit with them which pays a pretty good rate. Their customer service is fine - had no problems with them and they're all UK based too which is good.

Also have savings in the Glasgow Credit Union and the Coventry Building Society, both of which are excellent.

Other than that I've had direct experience with Bank of Scotland and RBS. I always found the staff in Bank of Scotland to be very friendly, whereas most RBS branches near me seem a bit understaffed and the staff were never quite as chipper.

Halifax without any doubt. 5 Minutes of internet transfers generate me £10 every month from my 2 reward accounts.
Another major advantage is that you don't need any device to use your online banking unlike with some other banks
