what are you're favourite banks?

my favourite banks would have to be lloyds tsb and hsbc.
I like both these banks as their customer service is good and I like the accounts and cards they offer.

    Your, not you're ;)

So far it would have to be Barclays and Coventry (if building societies count too?! :P) however these are also the only ones I've used.

My only minor issue with Barclays is the foreign telephone support because of the line quality. Normally I visit a branch though as I have one nearby. It'd also be nice if they had a coin counting machine in one of the local branches. From what I've seen though there isn't a single bank in the area that does! :(

I just have a bond with Coventry and signing up was very easy and they quickly returned by photocopied ID to me :)

Cov are great imho. I've had no issues with Natwest - nothing special, but does what it says on the tin sort of service level

They're all scrotes. The lot of 'em!
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

    They're, not their ;) (sorry, couldn't resist)

My vote would go to Barclays - changed to Barclays from Nationwide due to the Faster Payments they offer. Been perfectly content since moving.

I have two current accounts (Barclays, Nationwide until November then probably Santander...use the second account as back up and for travel)

Also have saving accounts with Newcastle Building Society, Tesco and Nationwide. Credit card also with Tesco.

My marks out of 10 for all those...

Nationwide - 2/10...cut my credit card limit as I wasn't making them money (low use, always paid off), very slow at introducing Faster Payments and still quite low daily limit, getting rid of cheap overseas withdrawals. No reason to keep account once cheap overseas stuff goes.

Barclays - 9/10 (nothing wrong with them, but not many freebies, hence not 10/10)

Newcastle - 8/10. Fab account, but would like a bit more account literature, eg annual statement.

Tesco - 5/10...took ages to set up online savings account but then works very well. Credit card is a nightmare as they just couldn't handle moving bank accounts...worked fine at first, then direct debit reverted to old account, then the direct debit wasn't taken at all the next month...no excuse for such poor processes in the computer age. In summary, good accounts, poor administration.

Im happy with HSBC so far
  • In my first month with NatWest I've been really happy with them. I've got all of my DD's transferred over so that's good. They are hesitant to help when I've been branch to ask questions so so far so good with "The Action Bank". :)
:)Gone from Poor to Excellent Credit. Proud of my recovery. Never going back to the sub prime! :)
