My only minor issue with Barclays is the foreign telephone support because of the line quality. Normally I visit a branch though as I have one nearby. It'd also be nice if they had a coin counting machine in one of the local branches. From what I've seen though there isn't a single bank in the area that does!
The online banking helpdesk is in the UK, but telephone banking is in a foreign country.0 -
Main Account, Business Account & Mortgage - HSBC

Secondary Account - RBS
2 x Vantage Accounts for Savings - Lloyds TSB
Reward Account for free fivers - Bank of Scotland
Savings - Principality Building Society
In the main by dealings are with HSBC, RBS and the Princilpality
All of them excellent in my opinion, the staff at my local HSBC are a credit to their company.0 -

Perhaps although it was the line quality that seemed to me that it was an international call.0

when did I mention I was thinking of opening more? if I was going to open a new account I would close an account I allready have. im going to stay with ltsb, hsbc and halifax. I might close rbs and natwest and open a barclays account? actually I want a bank with good customer service, maybe santander? (joke). onlypaddy don't worry im not a bankaholic (only maximum 5 accounts at a time, even then im pushing it personally).0 -

I just struggle to understand why you would need so many accounts at your age. As an adult I could understand if you were splitting money into different accounts for different things (eg. one for bills, one for spends, one for food shopping etc) or using accounts for their perks (e.g. halifax reward £5 per month)
But child accounts don't carry any perks and I doubt you have the need for splitting money. When you hit 18 they will all bombard you at the same time, wanting to upgrade you.
In either case, your quest for ultimate customer service will take you to First Direct. Of course, you need a good credit rating and at least £1500 a month income.Debts at LBM (May '08) £5760 - Lloyds CC £4260, Lloyds OD £1500;Debts as of May 28th 2011:Santander CC: £0.00Lloyds OD : £0.00DFW Nerd #1247 - Proudly dealt with my Debts

I see where your coming from onlypaddy. I have a few accounts I use for saving which I want to keep seperate. like 1 account for when I get driving lessons and buy a car and insurance. another account for backup with about £1000. another account for a house deposit and an account for day to day stuff like online purchases. I did mention I was going to close an account. like you said all young persons accounts are similar but my ltsb account only gives the 2.5% for balances upto £2500. if I go beyond that the interest goes down to 0.8% ( I think?) or something similar.0

My favourite bank is the one that offers you cash to open an account. Since 2004 (when I started recording) I have had... in the order they came.....
£50 from Abbey National
£100 from First Direct
£50 from the TSB
£50 from the Alliance & leicester <plus extra £50 friend recomend>
£50 from Nationwide
£100 from Halifax
£100 from Abbey National
£100 from Alliance & Leicester <plus £50 quidco>
£40 from HSBC
£75 from Nationwide
£100 from Alliance & Leicester <plus £45 quidco>
£50 from Halifax
They are all much of a much for me. Wage goes in, debits come out and I spend what's left. Although I could not tell you what I have done with all that incentive money!
I am just waiting for the Co-operative Bank, Clydesdale Bank or Royal Bank to offer cash and I will be opening an account!
