Thank you for the above. Sadly, I'm unable to get online with the laptop at the moment. It is sat on my desk only inches from the TalkTalk router and yet, I get no signal (writing this on my desktop). Showing DSL-260R with limited access. As soon as I get online, I will do as requested in post 3.0

Plug it in via the Ethernet cable. As to the Recovery Discs.... Do it yesterday. What are you thinking? No excuse.

As soon as I leave the naughty corner and remove my Dunces hat, I will get onto things.:D0

You can stand in the Naughty Corner after you have completed the work. No reason why your Grandson should suffer from your omissions.

As to whether you need to wear a Dunce's hat.....we'll see.

On the 2nd Recovery disc as I type. Yesterday, I went to Start Up and unticked several items to stop them opening up on Start Up. Is it possible that I did something to stop the laptop connecting to Internet? That is when the problem seems to have started. Just an idea.
As soon as I complete the Recovery disc, I will do as Donnie suggested.
ps, I might have to come back to this on Sunday as I'm getting the hint to get ready. I'm taking the family down to the pub for a meal. Two main meals for £10 plus I have a voucher for a Free dessert for all of us.

Seeing as the laptop is quite new, you should think about running a Factory Restore.
Make a copy of any data that you wish to keep.
I honestly think this is the best, fastest and most simple course of action for you.
We will then be assured that you are beginning with a completely clean system. Everything will just work.
All you need to do then is to remove some of the superfluous programs bundled with the Toshiba. Your McAfee Trial may begin again, but you can remove it with the Removal tool and install Avast if you wish.
I'm reasonably sure that your problems are to do with the only partly un-installed programs. Of course there may be Malware, but as of yet no Hijack This log. A Factory Restore will eliminate all of the problems.
For that you will need your newly created Restore Discs.
