hmmm the recipe book asks you to use quornballs which i've never seen in Belfast..... Are you meaning using mince from scratch? That's what I assume you mean.

Thanks for looking Zippychick - I've not seen the ready made ones, will keep an eye out for them and see what's in them, might get a clue from there.

It is nigh- on impossible to make them with quorn on its own, but you can make them with quorn mixed with TVP or dried soya mince, but it is a faff (and works out expensive). The quorn meatballs are quite tasty but not good value for money, they are around the same price as a bag of quorn mince or pieces and we get one meal from a pack, but I can get two meals for four people out of a bag of mince. If you are near Asda, they sell a chargrilled veggie burger mix which is very like the old Burgamix - we make meatballs with those, and get about 12 to a pack, at 82p it is very good value for money, and tasty too, I put diced onion and grated carrot through it sometimes too, to stretch it out a little. (does need extra seasoning though)

Sounds good jackie! Glad you said that about quorn meatballs on their own. Ive been threatening to try my very long drawn out faffy meatball recipe on boyf, but think I'll give it a miss!

Don't try to make meatballs with Quorn.

    Full Stop.

I tried everything in the kitchen cupboard to try and bind the begger together.... just stopped short of super glue (and I doubt that would have worked either!).

On the up side, I made a nice filling for my jacket spud.... by the time I ate it though I'd lost track of what I'd bunged into it :o

Thanks for the help JackieG and ZippyC xx

Just thought i would link to this recipe - i made it from the quorn cookbook the other night and it was really tasty and filling! Spicy mince spread over a tortilla, sprinkled with cheese and layered again and again

JackieG - I'm sure your boys would love this!

Cheers Zippy it looks good, two of mine don't eat cheese though, but I will make it "plain" and just wack it under the grill with cheese on top for us. :) Thanks xx

I knew you would read this thread ! Let me know how it goes. It curbed my boyfs appetite who is one hungry fella! MMmmmmm im hungry now. I would bulk it out with very small chopped veg but one bag of mince made two stacks with it thinly spread - 4 fajitas for his and 3 for mine
