Yes, a tiny organism is fermented in large "bin" like containers so it is easily mass produced. Each to their own I suppose

Can you cook it the same as meat?:j This year is my year 2009 :j0 -
the quorn website has some great recipe ideas on, if you want to stretch it out further you could use some red lentils, the combination of the 2 make a good vege cottage pie. you could make a chilli, with some chopped tomatoes, kidney beans, vegetable stock, onions, quorn mince and chilli powder.0

Just like beer!
I usually use 300g of quorn mince to make 1 big bolognese. I then take half out and make the other half into chilli by adding beans and chilli powder.
I reckon if you're using 700g of quorn and adding lentils etc. you should get about 10-12 meals. You could use some in a shepherds pie (4 portions), then make a large bolognese sauce thing which would do a lasagne (4 portions), spag bol (2 portions) and chilli (2 portions)0 -

It has lots of things added remember. I throw a tin of tomatoes at least in the 300g bag to make the sauce, sometimes 1 1/2 tins, then after I've taken half out I add a small tin of baked beans to make the chilli (dh won't eat red kidney beans).
To the shepherds pie portion I would add chopped carrots and any other veg that isn't moving away fast enough. Then there's the red lentils (unnoticed by dh, not that he would have minded, I was just testing), and a handful of oats too if you feel adventurous.....
Also, depending on appetite you may get more. I made just chilli last week for a friend and I, so only used half a 300g bag. It made enough for both of us to have a chilli baked potato, my friend took a portion home for her other half, and I have a portion in the freezer.0 -
Two questions please.
One. I bought quorn mince, cooked it and stuck it in the freezer. I defrosted it and started to make spag bol with it. There is far too much --can I freeze it again ?
Two, can I shove creme fraiche through it to make the OH eat it ?0 -
I should think it would be fine refreezed (although strictly speaking you prob shouldnt)
CF will be fine.Pawpurrs x0
