Are you double clicking on the regscanner results, if it doesn't work on the first click, click again.
are there any references to h: here?

I am double clicking and the one you've listed I've already changed and the only one with an h: was my picture folder. Sorry but still struggling to see some of the complete file paths in Reg Edit. Done all the ones I can see.BR 08/06/09 ED 10/03/10BSC member 2500 -
Right, I now only have 4 h: pointers left and all point to my photo folders so think they should be okay.
Just trying to load the dongle software and it seems to be working, though taking its time, so thank you very much for your help.BR 08/06/09 ED 10/03/10BSC member 2500 -
Back to the maxtor, if it's unreadable on 2 machines, and you haven't installed anything on those machine that might mess up your mass storage device driver, then I would suggest opening the case carefully, and attaching the drive internally to a desktop, to rule out the caddy.
How you proceed really depends on how important the data is, some of the larger maxtor/seagate drives >500GB have a firmware update available that may cure an unreadable fault.
External usb drives are best used as a backup device, not a main storage device, always keep 2 or more copies of important data.!!

Thanks for this and sorry I took so long to reply but I've been away. As it turns out I was camped in a very poor reception area any way so couldn't use the dongle!

I'm not confident about taking the hard drive apart so I might just take that to the Tech guys and get them to look at it. I'll also take on board your advice as well.BR 08/06/09 ED 10/03/10BSC member 2500
