Awww sheils - sorry to hear about you missing out on your trip. I live in Newcastle and the snow here has been really bad and the state of many of the roads is terrible. I'm dreading getting to work tomorrow and it's only a half hour drive :eek: I think you definitely made the right decision. It would have been a very long way to travel in such awful weather. Thanks Skippy - it is just so annoying when the weather is fine here! As OH said if we had been going away for 2 weeks it would have been different.

Funnily enough I am actually snowed in Korky!!!!! :eek: Tried to get to work this morning and couldn't. There were cars and buses stuck on the other side of the road. Eventually heard word that as so many buses were stuck in our village that the other buses would only go as far as the Business Park (about 2 miles away). No way I could have walked that far in all this snow. Rang work and told them I couldn't make it. My bosses weren't even in so I think they may be stranded too! Luckily we work in an office so we have been able to manage with a skeleton staff before. Fingers crossed I can get there tomorrow otherwise I'll have no annual leave left!!!!

I've never known it be as bad as this for snow in Newcastle sheils. It is unbelievable. All the schools are shut and people are only being advised to drive if absolutely necessary....

Seeing the annual leave bit above,it might be worth mentioning something i heard last night for everyone that has to book leave in advance.

Due to the planned royal wedding next year being a bank holiday on Friday,Easter bank hols are earlier in the week or at end of prev week,so If you take the Tues,Weds and thurs b4 the wedding date on the fri off,then in effect you could be off from Friday the week before up to Monday the following week for the sake of taking 3 days leave.

Phew. Does this make sense?

Our kids on holiday for 3 days anyway but we have hardly any snow! Hope you don't use up to much leave.
