I normally go in at the last page and keep entering them backwards until I get to the last one that I thanked.

this is what i would like to do but i dont always have time to catch up so there would be a gap between where i last left off and where i've worked back to tonight hence having to work from the front to the back
  • i would hate the magazine comps being on one thread. I find the hardest comps to enter now are the puzzler ones because it takes me ages to find where i last left off.
also the enter button is only valid on the first post. so if it was posted today, 20/11 and i clicked enter, then next week's are posted as post 2, it would still show that i had entered when actually i hadn't

I agree about the Puzzler threads, I gave up on them some time ago, it's not that I don't appreciate the amount of time taken for them, it's just extremely confusing as they're all muddled up end date wise! :o

If the magazine comps were each on their own seperate thread, so Chat had one thread, TAB had one thread and they're all open for a week, so you know the last one that you clicked thanks on was the last one you entered, do you think that would work? Also making it strictly no chatting in the thread unless it's querying something not just thanking, so any posts not about this are deleted? I think it would, but obviously everyone does things differently and it's about getting the balance right so it works for everyone. The enter button can just be reference for the competitions you want to enter/check to see if you want to enter when the prize is updated? And the thanks button the one that shows you if you've entered a specific issue/comp?

Personally I would prefer everything to be posted as seperate threads for each individual comp, but it seems most people don't want it that way.

I've been thinking a bit more though, maybe once ALL regulars are in the regular section (My own definition would be that no threads that need to be bumped or updated for any reason whether daily, weekly or monthly or anything else such as bi-weekly and the like would be on the main board, only things with ONE specific end date would be on there with everything else on the regulars in some form.)

I was thinking, maybe ongoing weeklies, like the Chat, TAB etc, could have 'E: WEEKLY (MON-SUN)' or 'E: WEEKLY (E: SUNDAYS)' with Monday being the date the new comp begins and Sunday being the last date for entries each week (it doesn't matter if it's not posted on that day as long as it's clear from the title which day they end.)

Ongoing monthlies could have E: MONTHLY (1ST-END) or if another date E: MONTHLY (22ND-21ST) again, so it's obvious from the title when they can be re-entered, might be easier to keep track?

Anything else which needs updating, say it's got 3 draws or something and it's not specifically a month inbetween could say 'E: 01/12, E: 04/02, E: 06/05' so all of the ending dates are in the title? Maybe each date could be taken off the title as it passes? (Although at the end of the 2nd draw, technically it would be a main board type of comp as there would be only one draw left)

It would take some thinking, but I definitely think that they could be organised slightly differently on the regulars so as to make it easier to follow.

Edit: Meant to say, definitely agree that any major changes should be made beginning of January and not before, would cause too much chaos!

hiya, you should get an email as soon as the new ones are posted if you've subscibed to the thread, then, as BS says, your thanks button should show you where you last left of

Only board guides can move a thread, Gilla can't, So it has to be a request to a bg if u think a thread is in the wrong place xx

I second Bm asking can we wait for any massive changes till Jan, the board will be alot quieter xx
well i'm glad to see i at least managed to create some discussion :rotfl: i think as toni says, now might not be the best time of year to start moving threads over etc.. January tends to be quieter and there won't be so many dailies/weeklies on main board so might be a better time to try and figure it all out.

And i know i said i wasn't being serious in my previous thread but maybe we could have a poll of whether to keep the regular board.. :o ?

Sorry am going to stick my nose in here, I don't use the regs board that much as I get lost in there lol
but whatever dicisions are made please can we wait till after Christmas, will normal dailies and advents plus an influx of other comps things will be very complicated which isn't needed.

I totally agree that any changes shouldn't be made until the New Year but a consensus of the general opinion of MSEr's could be generated ready for implemetation in the New Year

you can't define the ending dates on some of the puzzler /puzzle monthly comps :) they have comps running in with each other that are in different mags , last month posted one of the puzzler ones, then a dif mag but running with a new mag is doing the same comp,
unless you buy the mag you can't check, the site sometimes gives wrong ending dates & usually end up phoning them for clarification

For Xmas time the boards r chaos, u just have to accept that to some degree and organise ur comping, I comp from thread start so anything thats bumped doesn't hit my radar.

If all those comps like the phones 4 u and Daily mail cottage (which are 2 very heavily used threads)are getting moved u will have alot of posts asking where they are and dare i say it the dupe angle, when people can't see it or think of seraching the sub forms.

in the case Of older/popular thread being moved to Regs a redirect could be left (we have an option on how long a redirect will last before it automatically disappears) so maybe a week? but it's not going to be a large amount of these, a sticky announcement would help too :)
I don't think there are that many on the main board it's just we see them so often as they get bumped a lot

Yeah, I appreciate that, it's just a case of me finding some time when I'm in the right frame of mind to go through it all, before the Puzzler site changed, so a looooong time ago, I used to keep up to date with it, I also kept that on my spreadsheet in another tab, so I knew which number (the 4 digit number they had) competition I had entered or not entered and if they were repeated I could already mark that one down as entered too. I found it more confusing when they changed the site, but at some point will go and have another look at it. :D

Why is everyone still posting in this thread is everyone disillusioned with the X Factor like me?

being of the Beatles gen I think that the contestants are murdering the songs tonight and John Lennon and George Harrison must be rolling (not rocking) in there grave
