Sorry but if u knew it was in advents, why ask about it being moved to gillas dailies?
It needs a thread to link to, I can't just take the link to the site as:
A) The op deserves the recognition for finding the compOften answers are needed in advent comp
C) Not everyone uses the advent thread
I didn't post it so why it's on main board is not down to me, The poster that posted it is fairly new and has obviously tried to help all that are trying to win on that comp, There are many comps of a similar nature on the main board, the daily mail xmas cottage etc.
i already asked about the daily mail xmas comp toniq
& wasn't sure about that one being in advents
am just trying to figure out how the reg board worksplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
Here go's I feel that I might get lambasted but I am going to speak my mind
I apologise to Glad in advance who is doing an excellent job since taking over the role as a BG but I feel trying to breathe new live into the regulars board is like trying to flog a dead horse
and I'm sorry but I am going to have to go against the minority who are posting in this thread and say that given the option the vast majority of compers would like the Regulars board disbanded completely and the comps amalgamated into the Main board and I am sure that with a few tweaks here and there this could be achieved
where will it ever end? you could go on categorizing forever like all magazine comps in the Regulars, all ITV comps together all Facebook and Twitter comps all Advents together in fact all comps that are posted regularly from any site in the Regulars board together
taking comps away from the main board is in my opinion a step in the wrong direction and will make the Regulars board even more confusing
all that the vast majority of compers want to do is to enter competitions and I'm sure that at the end of the day they would much prefer them all in one place
if you disagree with what I have said then maybe it should be put to a vote for and against the Regulars board
but with perceverence and educating people that board would become more effective and welcoming
it shouldnt make things confusing maybe upon 1st posting but eventually people would learn.
it would tidy up the main board dramatically and all comps would be in their rightful place
id rather have an ongoing comp of page 1 or 2 of the regulars board than on page 110 because it finishes tomorrow and im sure others would agree,
i believe glad is moving in the right direction and honestly cant see why i am in the minority when im sure it makes sense0 -
For Xmas time the boards r chaos, u just have to accept that to some degree and organise ur comping, I comp from thread start so anything thats bumped doesn't hit my radar.
If all those comps like the phones 4 u and Daily mail cottage (which are 2 very heavily used threads)are getting moved u will have alot of posts asking where they are and dare i say it the dupe angle, when people can't see it or think of seraching the sub forms.#JusticeForGrenfell0 -
Hope you don't mind me putting my relatively new twopenneth in. I've only been comping since September and to be honest I took one look at the Regular board and didn't venture back there again.
However, now I've found my feet a little bit, and after reading the discussion on here this morning, I've had another look and I can see how useful it is for this type of comp to be in a different place to the one off kind of comp. I've spent an hour or so there and marked the ones I've entered today, and I know that I can go back next week/month and enter again. If they were on the Main board I probably wouldn't look at them again.
Personally I love the Puzzler thread as I can keep a really good track of where I got to and which ones I've entered via my Thanks button. I struggle with the Chat etc ones that are in separate threads as I have no idea if I've missed any or not.
Whatever you decide, I really appreciate everyone's hard work.:jI shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy.0 -

well, i must be a bit thick or something
:rotfl:
'cause this one says gilla has added it to the dailies but it's still on main board being bumped most days
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2842178
do they/should they have two threads ??
Err you thick Korky I don't think so!
you must have einsteins brain to keep up with the magazine comps that you post
No post should have two threads and if all comp post's where on the main board it wouldn't/couldn't happen0 -

but i'm not saying about the advent threads toniq,
the boards are always a bit full at xmas, what i'm trying to say is
a lot of 'reg' comps are posted on the main board, bumped every day for answers etc so what Glad's saying makes sense,
''If all those comps like the phones 4 u and Daily mail cottage (which are 2 very heavily used threads)are getting moved u will have alot of posts asking where they are and dare i say it the dupe angle, when people can't see it or think of seraching the sub forms''
accept a lot of peeps will be asking, but that will be the same for the mag posts, puzzler etc if they're moved,
but it does make sense to have them all in the same place without
having them posted in 2 placesplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
well i'm glad to see i at least managed to create some discussion :rotfl: i think as toni says, now might not be the best time of year to start moving threads over etc.. January tends to be quieter and there won't be so many dailies/weeklies on main board so might be a better time to try and figure it all out.
And i know i said i wasn't being serious in my previous thread but maybe we could have a poll of whether to keep the regular board..?
2008: £783.12 - 2009: £6,401.15 - 2010: £4,230.61 - 2011: £8720 - 2012: £2,041.89
2013: £134.960 -

why is it still on the main board if it's posted in another thread please ?
same as ome of the others are still posted/bumped up on main board but are in regs ?how about if regular meant regular so if there's any irregularity then main board, that will keep the regs board just for threads where the comp occurs daily or same day/date every week/month,
i think the first thing is a deffinition of what exactly is a regular comp. my deffinition means that the dickinsons real deal comps are regular and should go on regs board (id prefer them in one updated thread than as individual posts but thats me).
various other people define them as brand new comps each time and thus post them on main in a new thread for each one.
another example..the weekly find telly comp. this is posted as a brand new comp on main every single week, though it is the same comp, same prize just a different answer each week. personally i dont see why it cant be a thread updated with the new answer and new end date each week instead of a new thread entriely each week..but when i suggested that in one of its first threads i was informed it was not a reg as it had a different answer each week.
by that deffinition the a lot of the dailys are not regualr comps and should be posted as brand new comps on main each day.
however that imo means more work for the poster as instead of updating an answer by replying to a thread it needs to be a whole new post, and its more work for the bgs as instead of one thread to move at the end of the month (as is the case with sugar thread) its a thread to move every single day.
so please can the board guides and andrea give us an official deffinition of regular? then we can all work from the same hymm sheet over which comps go in the regs board rather than main. how they are then posted in regs can be disgussed once we know exactly which ones count as regulars. Many thanks for taking the time out to answer my post Glad I know that you are extremely busy
by your own summation we would see a 10% increase to the pages on the main board not a great amount I'm sure you will agree
and I can't really see how the comps with no end dates would cause a problem they could be guessed as is now on the main board or there could be a stickie for comps with no end date
All comps with an end date could be done in the normal way i:e E:
and tagged at the end (Daily) (Weekly) (Monthly) (FB) Facebook (Twitter) (Advent) thus making it easy to find the comps when searched, the amount of space in the title could also be adjusted so that you would still have the space to post the details of the comp prize
and a new sticky could be created advising people how to do the end tags
i cant see how having all those with no end date in the regular board would be a problem once everyone is reading from the same book...its simply another area to check as often as you want, and down to your choice if you bother or not. (generic your).
honestly i think a lot more people would use regs if it was tidy, up to date (which glad is working on) and most important of all consistant!
obviously that just my opinion and your mileage may vary.0 -
Been out all afternoon so just had a quick scan through, wow, lots of posts!
I think having all the posts in one thread is a great idea for when they're like Chat, TAB, etc etc and the end dates are sequential (eg. 7/11, 14/11, 21/11) it would be really difficult for anything that meant that some earlier posts end before later posts (because being able to enter by end date would be virtually non existant if they were all mixed up!) but for the threads such as the Chat etc I think it would work very well, it's just a case of keeping track of which ones you've done and need to do, ie. which days they all start and end.
I keep a really simple spreadsheet for the dailies (inc. a seperate tab for advents), weeklies and monthlies I want to enter. (I don't use the monthly tab on my spreadsheet at the moment though as I can't be bothered to sort it all out!) and make a note for weeklies which draw I've entered, like I'll keep a note of which day the draw ends so I don't dupe myself. (But that's just because I've got a really bad memory, I wouldn't know a dupe if it was staring me in the face!!) I tend to enter on the same day each week, but sometimes I don't get around to it, so I'll go back and forth during the week and just do which ones I've got time for, the spreadsheet really helps for when you haven't got time to do them all in one go, so you can keep track. I just thought it might help anyone struggling to keep track with the regulars to throw this out there!

Only board guides can move a thread, Gilla can't, So it has to be a request to a bg if u think a thread is in the wrong place xx
I second Bm asking can we wait for any massive changes till Jan, the board will be alot quieter xx#JusticeForGrenfell0
