Good news on NPower cash and coming off fixed rate. Hopefully that will free up plenty for OP's. It's frustrating when you've spent all month money saving and wonder what happened to your OP's.
Anyway, you're doing really well and sound really prepared for Winter/Christmas which will save you loads of cash!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Sorry about the profanity Gally Girl. I take it that means you are ignoring it?
Yes, in the hope it will go away :rotfl:. Though I have started - bought DD some Hello Kitty socks (she's 25).
It was way to early in the morning for language like that :eek:A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Thanks CathT, I amtrying to get prepared as last year really hit us hard.
I have just stuck bubble wrap to the bathroom window and the window in the front door - they are frosted glass anyway so doesnt look too bad.
I am going to try and make some heat reflectors for the radiators with cardboard bubble wrap and tin foil.
The old style board is fab for tips on preparing for winter.
Make my day Jack Frost I am ready for you!!!:rotfl:2014 = New Year, New Me0 -
I just noticed your thread today for the 1st time and read it. I love all the small things you are doing. Don't ever get disheartened by it as it does all add up. I like to think i am proof of that. I mainly do ones like this by scrimping, and we will get there.
100 items on amazon. Wow. I only ever seem to have 10-20 things on there. It does make me laugh though. If i take things off, when i relist them again i usually sell something even if it is the same price. I can never figure it out.
Well done on all the bulk cooking. Something i have slipped on recently but i am trying to get better at. Feeding DH and 2 hungry boys stops too much of it but i will get there.0 -
Thanks , it doesnt always feel like I am doing so well when I read others posts, but when I think back to just 9 months ago when we were living beyond our means, I am proud of what we have acheived
This weekedn I haved, lined the living room curtains with cheap fleeces, made a foil thing for behind the radiator, changed the bedding for the winter bedding - bed is soooooooooo cosy now.
Been to Mr T today for the yellow sticker bargains. I got 2 pork chops, pork fillet - enough for 4 meals and 2 lots of rib eye - for the princley sum of £5. I used a £2 Nestle voucher to get some more bits for Xmas too.

Got a letter from the HMRev to say I have overpaid tax and they are adjusting my tax code so should get a rebate:D
Made an OP of £42.50 and paid the same into the savings:T2014 = New Year, New Me0 -
Great news on the rebate, oh what joy! Loved your comment on my diary, made me laugh.0

Jumped the gun a bit with the rebate:( Spoke to HMRev today. I was on JS Allowance 3 years ago for 10 days. They never sent me a P45 so my tax code has been wrong for 3 years. I am waiting on the Jobcentre sending me a statement of earning and then I can send that to HMRev and it will be sorted in about 7 years:mad: Never Mind at least I dont owe them.

Hi mennie
those are FANTASTIC achievements! well done! I know sometimes I read here about people that seem to be imminently paying off thier mortgage and feel downhearted but every little thing we can do to save money counts... I am just pleased at the moment at the satisfaction from knowing I am not wasting things by either buying things I dont need, paying over the odds for things or throwing away food we never get round to eating! ah simple pleasures for me :rotfl:
you are right tho sometimes we need to see it in black and white- hope it has helped you to feel proud of all your achievements!
