Mambury - is there anyone else who could take on the role. someone who maybe isn't completely confident/ experienced but could be good with help.
Is there role to be a strong supporting vice/ deputy chair to someone else? A strong committee of governors can be as much a driving force as the chair if things are handled well.
Is there a way of looking at the duties and looking outside the box for ways for the rest to support the person who ends up as chair (be it you or someone else)?
just a few ideas

Well done on the Avon Nixi and delivering it all in the horrible cold. Hope the wee one is feeling better soon. Hi to everyone else will catch up later in the week - dont know where the time has gone but wish it would stand still for a bit. Boiler has broken down -typical got o/h to phone the engineers but the message said just to hold if it was an emergency so the doughball of a man hung up - HEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOO its -8 or -9 outside and still about 8 inches of snow outside with more forecast - if that not an emergency what the hell is.skintbint x

hi nixi -typical man - need a job doing do it yourself - couldnt believe it - asked him had he phoned and that was the reply i got - it was a message saying open mon - friday, blah blah to hold if it was an emergency so asked what they had said and all he could say was oh i hung up because i didnt think it was an emergency. i shake my head!!!!!
have got a little blow heater that's keeping the living room warm (just watching the meter go round!) and have put the gas ring on in the kitchen, just a pity getting an extension built just now, the house is colder than normal so we are all sitting with blankets, and big socks. engineer coming out tomorrow hopefully wont be anything drastic and get fixed tomorrow, pay one of these monthly plan things so shouldn't get hit with a big bill. Have got an electric shower in the main bathroom so we will at least get a shower, will just take bad getting up at 6 in the freezing cold - was just speaking yesterday about waking up when we were kids and Johnny Frostie had made ice patterns on the inside of the windows and getting dressed for school in front of the gas oven!skintbint x

Nixi - hope DD is better today and that you had a peaceful night.
Ds had the runs yesterday evening but seems ok so far today. fingers crossed!
Skint hope you get sorted out today. sounds really miserable!
Had some good news today. DH's step sister (who is mexican but spent a lot of her teen/uni years in uk before moving back to mexico with her mum and Dh's dad) is coming back to live in the UK in May. Don't know the details yet as in how long for or where abouts in the UK she will be. She is absolutely lovely and my kids will finally have an auntie in the same country as them.(my brother and his wife live abroad too). They adored her when they all came to visit in the summer.

Elly does that mean work didn't find a way to get you there.
We are having great fun with chocolate macaroons, squirty cream, marshmallows and cereal. Some great and messy creations and lots of lipsmacking yumminess. DS's idea for an extra advent acitivity for today. DD and I quite happy to oblige!!
