Suggestion: Helpfulness Index

The total number of posts, number of Thanks received and number of Thanked posts are all displayed beside every post.

It doesn't sound too difficult to also show what I will call the 'Helpfulness Index'. Thiis would be 100 x number of Thanks / Total number of posts.

For example, if I had made 200 posts and received 100 Thanks my Helpfulness Index would be 50. If I had made 200 posts and received 250 Thanks my Helpfulness Index would be 125.

This would encourage people to be helpful and readers could take more notice of posters with high Helpfulness indices

  • :rotfl: can't you do the calculation in your head? looking at glad i immediately see she's got an "index" of around 2 (4800 is twice 2400) and if I can do it then you can too :p

Yes but Glad has actually made 13502 posts as of now, so how would that work? i.e. Glad has not been thanked in 11148 post, or would it only include the post that are allocated to thanked posts? Bearing in mind the OP says "total number of posts"

Personaly I think the thanked button should be done away with.

  • I think an index should be made to show how much users post in the useless forums which don't contribute to the site (e.g. The Arms) and how much they post in the forums which help other moneysavers and help the site build it's info up (e.g. the moneysaving boards).

That way we'd know which users are timewasters and which ones are serious moneysavers to be taken notice of ;) because at the moment I could just go in the arms, build up a massive post count and get thanked for any little thing and give the impression that I'm a super-helpful-all-knowing moneysaver, when I could be talking tosh in the arms all the time.
    spacey :)
  • I don't use The Arms so hadn't thought about that , but I agree that 'chit-chat' posts should be excluded.
  • ohhhhh right now I get what you mean lol :o i'm in agreement with two above ^ posts re: arms as it does seem like general chat not moneysaving so in interests of fairness shouldn't be included because it would be misleading.

all my thanks are from the moneysaving boards :D :A i'm so helpful :rotfl:
