Hi Alix, we were there 10 years ago with 4 kids in a 2 up 2 down!

We divided the toys into 4 and put them in separate plastic storage boxes. Then we put 3 in the loft. One was left downstairs for one week, then it was all packed away into the loft and another box was brought down. I was never brave enough for painting, but we stored playdoh in the fridge. I am sure someone will come along with some other ideas.

Safest way is to blutack paper onto the tiles round the bath, put children and painting equipment in the bath , then hose them all down afterwards!

  • Hi

How about getting one of those door tidy's that hang over the back of the door with seperate pockets in. I got one for my room at uni as I, too, have limited space. I got it from Woolworth's (instore - they don't seem to have them online). They're really bright colours - either blue/green for boys or pink/purple for girls. I think it was £4 or £5. it's got 12 pockets of different sizes and I use it for storing belts, beanies, scarves etc. But it could definitely be used to store small toys or anything else in order to create some space somewhere else in the bedroom.

I know a lot of you watched Anthea Turners programme when it was on a while back. I watched one episode when she was helping someone and she was going on about storage boxes that could be put on top of wardrobes etc.

I thought it was a great idea at the time but whenever I have seen any I have always thought they were really expensive for what they were, a bit of plastic!

I could really do with a couple now though, have seen them for sale at Sainsburys for £12.99, apparantly they are a 'special purchase.' Is that a good price or a rip off? Have any of you seen any or bought any recently?
I should be going shopping today (friend of mine with a card is helping me out) so would be grateful if you know anywhere I can go to get them.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi ti1980,

We have a thread on storage at the moment that might give you some ideas so I've merged your thread in with it.

Thanks Pink. I managed to miss this thread yesterday :o

Those boxes from Instore look great, if I don't find any cheap clear plastic ones then I will definitely have to go to an Instore to see if they have any.

um i'm on isle of wight , but i think there are loads of instores around.i've heard in the past that poundstretcher and instore are the same. but we don't have a poundstretcher so i can't comment from experiance. the ones shown are the large ones and they are £4. they also did a medium for £3 and a small one for £1.50.

i bought just pink and blue( cause that matched kitchen) but they also did a natural tones ones. which was also pretty .
  • We needed five boxes for on top of our wardrobe. The ones i wanted were £10 each. I couldn't afford that so i got 5 archive boxes (or five big boxes all the same size) from work and painted them in airforce blue (to match our accessories). Cost about a fiver all up and looks really smart.
  • My children both have a tall Ikea Billy bookcase in their bedrooms - I've bought plastic lidded tubs from Wilkos and 2 sit on each shelf quite neatly. It means they can put different things in each tub like cars, lego, barbies etc! Also from Wilkos we bought a plastic three draw unit that sits in the corner of the kitchen with all the art stuff in it.
I usually bring one or two tubs of toys down each morning then just before their bathtime they help tidy up and I bring the tubs back up to put on the shelves.
