I've gone even cheaper. I had a tub of cheese balls for christmas. When they were finished I wiped the tub out, covered it in leftover Disney Princess wrapping paper and used it for all the little bits that came with DD's barbies and ponies. It has a tight fitting lid so no more stepping on mini hair brushes in the middle of the night :D

I got the 10 chinese takeaway containers for £1 from a cheapie shop. Four of these fit neatly into each of hubbie and my bedside drawers, and make great drawer organisers, with two left over for the freezer. Doesn't matter what they look like from the outside as they can't really be seen because of the close fit, but keeps things organised easily.

instore have got some fantastic baskets which has either pink, natural or blue edging. i bought 8 in medium and large and have them on top of kitchen cupboards. one is for my sewing kit , playdough cutters etc , paints , crayons , colouring in books, kithcen utensils i need but not every day . they are £3 for medium and £4 for large. such a bargin. they look fantastic. i love sorting and organising. most of my food cupboards has everything decanted into storage pots and labelled. but i do find i buy alot of ingrediants from easy weight( u buy as much or as little as u need , and it comes in little bags ) so it is easy to buy just enough to fill the pots i store it in. sounds odd. maybe i'll put a picture up. lol
  • Moggins that is a great idea! I never thought of that :)

Now I'm going to do that today with a Twiglet tub left from xmas. I'm forever hoovering up barbie shoes etc so would be great to have them all in one place :)

    Thanx

when my daughter was younger she had a winne the pooh themed bedroom. and she had a mountain of soft toys , so to keep them a bit more organised. i got some empty cardboard boxes from local shop.and covered them in winnie the pooh wrapping paper. and they sat on the top of wardrobe. they look fab. matched the room perfect and only cost about 60p( price of wrapping paper)

  • Hello,

I live in a 2 bed terrace, Me, DH and DS aged 2, the problem I have is DS has enough toys to set up a shop for ELC and Toys R us.

I have cleared them out as much as possible, however as his birthday is in December, most of the things are new - birthday or christmas presents.

I have put some things away for in the garden in the summer or for when he is older, have given toys away and taken some to the charity shop. But there are still loads, and he does play with them all at some point.

What I need help with is some OS storage, but, needs to look ok so can be on display. He has lots of arts stuff (paints etc) which i would prefer he does not have easy access to and he is also book mad and has quite a few as well as the obligatory cars, diggers etc etc!

Any ideas gratefully received TIA

  • Hi Alix, we were there 10 years ago with 4 kids in a 2 up 2 down!

We divided the toys into 4 and put them in separate plastic storage boxes. Then we put 3 in the loft. One was left downstairs for one week, then it was all packed away into the loft and another box was brought down. I was never brave enough for painting, but we stored playdoh in the fridge. I am sure someone will come along with some other ideas.
