Oh, poor you - you really don't need that stress at the moment. Is your OH able to work in the meantime or do they take him off the road until it has been investigated?

At least nobody was hurt - it could have been a million times worse, so that's something to be grateful for.

Love the new signature by the way! You should be so proud of that.

  • Midwife appointment today, just a routine one, so nothing exciting. Not much money saving to report other than still being quite good on not frittering away on the "little stuff", not bought any magazines or sweets yet and quite proud of myself.

Lol, so how much do I regret writing this?? Went to the midwife on Tuesday, felt absolutely fine, got there and she found protein in urine and blood pressure high. She decided to give me a while and rechecked blood pressure, hoping it was caused by rushing around, nope, it was even higher so she sent me off to the day assessment unit for blood pressure monitoring.

After four hours there BP was steady but still high, blood tests came back that there were "worrying" (her words) levels of urate(?) in the blood sample and I was dispatched to another hospital to be admitted. Spent the last two days there. My blood pressure hasn't gone up any further and the urates has risen only slightly so I was allowed home last night (after nagging all day!!) but have to go in for monitoring again this afternoon as they are not happy with the monitoring trace done on the baby (who admittedly has been moving a lot less this last few days but I think that is common for later in pregnancy?). Two doctors in there mentioned trying to induce me yesterday; one even tried a cervical sweep (OOOOOWWWWW!!!!!) but the second doctor decided as the baby's head wasn't yet engaged at all it could be more dangerous than just waiting a while longer.

So, I'm home. And despite varioous people telling me everything was fine and the house was tidy, it's NOT! They kept saying "No-one's been in long enough to make a mess", when what they meant was No-one's been in long enough to tidy up, though there was plenty time to make a mess! I came home to worktops covered in crumbs and spills, grease all over the cooker top, floors covered with bits and muddy footprints (despite the fact that shoes are supposed to come off at the door), coffee cups, newspapers, shoes and other debris everywhere, wet, smelly towels piled in the bathroom, an overflowing washing basket and the bin wasn't put out to be emptied on Wednesday. I could go on but I sense you're bored!! Anyone else's OH and children quite happy to live in filth (In fact not even realising how dirty everywhere is) or is it just mine???

Plus, the kids have been styaing with my Mother, who was very kind to have them, but they haven't been bathed in two days (I blame them as well as her for this, they are quite old enough to do this themselves without being told!), they were both late for school and DD looks shattered as she has had two very late nights - again I could continue but it's just petty niggles!

Anyway, have tidied, hoovered and done some washing and feel a bit happier - just got the floors to wash and it will look much better. Goodness knows what the place will look like if I have to spend any length of time in hospital. And no-one seems to understand that I don't want to bring the baby back to a dirty house, and have the midwife and visitors calling when it's a tip, grr!

Phew, now onto the moneysaving!! Obviously have spent hardly anything for past two days. Got home to find a letter from Gas / Elec company who are refunding a month's payments as a loyalty bonus which I'm quite happy about. Between that and not paying council tax and water rates next month that should cover the contents and building insurance that is due. Already happy with contents insurance quote (£75 from AA - renewal premium was £141), buildings insurance renewal just came and is £142 so just got to see if I can find similar cover for less now.

Also got a letter from council offering polling station work which I've done before and is good money but not sure if i can work while on maternity leave - will have to look into that.

In answer to a previous question, OH is still at work and still driving - just not flavour of the month at the moment!

Now, off to see what everyone else has been up to!
  • Argh, bloomin' Barclays!!

I usually access all my accounts through Egg Money. Barclays however have changed their log in to PinSentry (or something). now I don't have a card reader which you're supposed to have so couldn't get logged in. tried to add some details to Egg Money to log in and it deleted ALL the details to all my accounts!!

Has taken ages to find the log in details for everywhere to re-enter them but can't find Barclays passcode. Phoned up to get a new one, which was fine but I'll have to wait for it arriving but tookages to get rid of pushy salesperson wanting me to get home and contenst insurance with them. I'm sure he wasn't even listening to me!! Grr...

Off to check OH's accounts - hopefully as he doesn't have a Barclays account will have less trouble there!

Oh dear, not a very good week. It's really hard, but please try and take it easy! And kick all your family into touch - you don't need any stress at the moment, so they all need to do their bit to make sure you're not getting stressed by little things. Tell them I'll be up there to sort them out if they don't get their act together - can supply very scary photo if necessary!

Hope all goes well over the next few days.
