  • THE GOOD NEWS:

My whole house is clean, tidy and decluttered, even places where people can't see! Except the attic which is

    THE BAD NEWS:

    I am completely shattered.
OH will be home in about an hour to destroy all my hard work.
Every thread in my favourites list has new posts on it while I have been busy and it's going to take ages to catch up (God forbid I miss something!!)

Shame argos didn't give us double instead of half the order - though what I would do with 8 boxes is beyond me! Shame they haven't all come, as half the wardrobe top looks smart and modern and the other half looks tatty and dilapidated - I don't like the lack of symmetry!!

If you want to come visit me anytime soon, you'd be more than welcome!:D

And to think you weren't sure whether you'd be bored with all that time off work!
  • It might take the next 9 weeks (and more) to sort the attic. If I disappear for a few days someone needs to send a rescue party up there!
  • Got a letter from the Health Visitor this morning saying she wants to come out and meet me on Wednesday. the last time I had a baby I didn't meet the Health Visitor until after the baby was born and the midwife stopped coming. Wondering if this is a new system or if I have been "targetted" for extra support as have been off work with stress for a few weeks and they are wondering aout my ability to cope? Or maybe I'm being overly paranoid?

Went to Asda last night. Left it a bit late and ended up putting the stuff through the checkout at ten to ten. How sad is that on a Friday night? Also the bill was huge - £97! How can you spend £97 on SmartPrice and Whoops items? Though we did need a fair amount of cleaning stuff eg dishwasher tablets and it worked out cheaper per tablet to buy a huge box. Same with a fair bit of other stuff where we bought large quantities but it should save in the long run. And we bought DD some tights to wear under her school trousers (her school playground is in the middle of nowhere with no shelter and plenty wind!). But still, ouch!

Got about 5 things left to list on ebay for my Mam then I can give her bag back and reclaim the space under my stairs. Will try to do that today. Also we won't be going far as about skint so might venture into attic. OH must be feeling a bit guilty as he's asked for a list of things he could do. I haven't written one but I'm very tempted maybe we'll finally get DD's drawer fixed, DS taken for a haircut and a new lightbulb on the landing!!

I know what you mean about when you try to buy in bulk but then have a heart attack at the checkout!! :)

I'm sure it's just a change in policy and they don't think anything else - you could always ask them lol! ;)

I think they do that fairly routinely now, so wouldn't worry about it. I'd definitely ask her when she visits - just say you didn't realise that you got pre-natal visits and see if she says anything! At least you won't need to spend ages cleaning up before she comes over!

I buy big bulk things in Makro whenever they're on special offer - last time I bought 2 enormous boxes of Finish tablets on BOGOF at 8.99, and it has lasted about a year with loads still to go! We do the same on bog-roll and kitchen roll, and I always buy massive boxes of washing powder. Costs a fortune at the time, but it must save loads in the long run.

I was thinking that actually! And I just saw my auntie in town and she mentioned calling in and I was going "Anytime! Just drop in!" Once upon a time I would have needed 2 hours notice!!

I like the way you phrased asking the health visitor. left to myself I would be saying "Why are you here, eh? Why? Why? Do you think I can't cope? Is that it? Eh?" until I definitely would be on the list to need careful watching, even if I wasn't before! Apparently, talking to friend, the health visitor comes out to discuss baby massage classes and breastfeeding groups etc and she claims I would count as a first time parent as so much has changed since 9 years ago - eg the health centre is now in a surestart area etc. Wonder if she's going to ask me if I think I need parenting classes or adult literacy support like DS's school did last week? (Although judging by the mistakes in some (all) of my posts maybe I do need those!!)

As for the other, yup, have got 20 toilet rolls in the bathroom and 4 unopened boxes of Persil in one of the kitchen cupboards due to the fact that asda had a special offer on them and they had Mr men in them! Also wouldn't like to count how much John West tuna, Heinz tomato soup and Robinson's juice we have! We may be broke but won't starve!

Now, I don't know what is going on with Argos. Got am email this morning to say they would deliver my missing item on Tuesday. Popped into town to buy more glue and green paint (making advent calendars with DD) and when I get back it has been delivered! What is going on?? At least I can make the top of the wardrobe match now!

Anyway, best get on. Advent calendars don't make themselves! (Though apparently you can buy them in Asda as my BIL said this morning when he called. OH told him what we were doing and he replied "Oh, we don't need to make any. We just bought one in Asda" I think he missed the point somewhat - and we have bought "official" Cadbury's calendars too - I'm not that mean! ... Or maybe I am as I bought them form the cheap chocolate man on the market for £1 each instead of the £2.50 they were selling at in te supermarket!)

Hi Choco - I am amazed at your activity this week!! Good for you for doing the whole house!! Fantastic - hope it stays that way!

You must take care of yourself though - don't go wearing your self out!!

Lol, it sounds good but bear in mind I have no work or children to attend to during the week, just me and my trusty stardrops (God, I sound sad!)

Just realised, as of tomorrow I am officially on maternity leave and not on the sick!

Hi Choco, Ive just had a quick read of your last few posts and you have been busy! I'd love to read your thread from the beginning - maybe later when Im not so busy, I'll settle down and catch up!

Re the Argos thing. I ordered 2 Memory cards for my two boys PSP's - they only delivered one, so I had to spend twenty minutes on the phone to find out that they only had one left, they said they had only charged me for one - when I double checked, they had only charged me £15.99 for the memory stick when they are supposed to be £29.99 - so don't know what was going on there!

when do you plan on tackling the attic?

I have a room that I keep shutting the door on - its going to be DD's room next year, but it needs a lot of work doing and junk keeps migrating into there!
